Hi everyone,

I finally got it http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

In the end I opted for the silver one, am very pleased with it... can't believe how much torque its got from low down...

Oh... if the dealer says you don't need to run it in (like Listers did!) read the book http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif I'm keeping it to 3k rpm max at the mo.

Overall I'm very happy with it and it definately gets some looks, as though people don't know what it is.

ta,
Matt

Hi,

The book says...

Upto 1000 kilometres
the following rules apply:

Do not use full throttle
Do not drive faster than 3/4 of top speed
Avoid high engine speeds
Don't tow stuff!

1000 - 1500km
Gradually increase speed / engine revs

Tyres must be run in for 100km
Brakes must be run in for 200km

Hope that helps,
Matt

Hi friends,

You should be safe during break-in period up to 4000 RPM!

When starting the engine wait 30 sec. for the oil pressure to build up. When cutting the engine wait at least 30 sec. for the Turbo to cool down!

All the best.

both the beeza and the leon have a secondary pump that keeps water flowing through the engine after its turned off to save the cool off period http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif next time you've been out for a thrash ,have a listen down by the bumper ,sounds like a quiet rad fan .

Hi Flapper,

Yes, I have heard the secondary water pump. The car book recommends 2 minutes waiting time before turning off the engine! The dealer recommended to me 30 sec. So what is the OFFICIAL recommendation on that???

I would be tempted to allow the turbo to cool down before I switched off after a high speed on boost thrash. In my mind this would be more to protect the red hot turbo and its oil feed/bearings, then for the water cooling on the bearing jacket.
The secondary water pump is a nice advance in engine tuning.......... back in my old Renault days, I did'nt even have a water cooled turbo... let alone a pump to keep circulating when switched off.

Progress for you.

Bill

Mobile 1 was a must on my old Renault 11 turbo. Tweeked to 18psi boost, rejetted carb (yes carb!!), Radbourne Racing cylinder head, modified intercooler, modified ignition. Mad and bad little car... Amazing it held together, apart from several clutches, went grp A renault sport item in the end as it was the only one to hold on.

i swear the mobile 1 was the only thing keeping the turbo going. cracked to hell, but no leaks...

Looking forward to a refined turbo motor which handles also!!!

bill
