please can you help
I purchased a OBD2 adaptor from e bay after reading positive feedback on the goods
I downloaded from the Ross-tech site free version 311.2 for serial cable to test prior to purchase.

I followed instructions from the Ross site and connected to the vehicle
did the coms test and it was positive, saved the settings.

Then set about communicating, starting with the engine module, this then
came
up with the following dialog box

Vag-Com Init Controller
Cant Synch Baud Rate

I then had to accept using the OK button

I tried other various controllers but had same results however the
instrument module did work as did the air bag module I do not have the one
that causes the issues (golf Mk4)etc

I would appreciate some help as I am not sure were or who to turn too, I
did ask Ross technical assistance and they say they do not support the free
software download, if it does not work then I cannot see why I should buy
the full version.

Not sure if VagCom is fully compatible with my daughters car, she has a
Seat Leon 2003 (latest model) 1.6s,

I have also tried this on two laptops and have had the same results

Any help would be appreciated as I have a engine light on and I would like to investigate.

Which type of interface did you buy? You need to make sure it is ISO-9141 compatible.

Why don't you contact the guy who you bought it from for support? Is it because he doesn't offer any support? Maybe that's why he can sell his stuff so cheap? :-)

VAG-COM is compatible with your car, there's no doubt in my mind. Drive to the place of business of any authorized VAG-COM reseller and they'll connect it to your car and prove it to you. Then maybe you'll consider buying something real instead of the cheapest thing you can find on eBay.

I have and they are trying to assist, you also replied to my e mail to yourself.

What I do not understand is why if I can reliably communication with the Instruments and the airbag module then why can I not communicate with the engine they all come through the same hardware.

The hardware has got very good feed backs from other customers.

I understand your view point and not wishing to support but from my point of view I would not proceed to purchase the software until I can ensure that the coms works correctly.

I belive that I may need to do something perhaps changing the baud rate but just wanted to see if others had the same experience. I am not knocking this hardware or the software, if I can get this to work then after I have experimented with what I can and cannot do you get a sale on sofware and I see no reason why the hardware should not work as I say it does with other modules.

I have heard that some others have experineced coms issues with 2003 or younger cars etc not just seat but audi and VW so wondered has there been a change .

I intend to check out a couple of other cars to see if the same fault occurs.

Any way thanks you for the comment

Go to www.Ross-Tech.com. Notice the handy search box? Type "Can't Synch Baud Rate" in the box.

UWE
many thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I changed the baud rate to 9600 and it now communicates with the Engine module.

What was confusing me is I have too change the baud rate for different modules eg the airbags will not communicate at this level (9600) they have to revert back to standard as does the instruments. My thoughts were once I had done the intial test and saved the settings I thought it would communicate to all the systems, which in my case it does not.

Atleast I know what I need to do for future communications.

I need to get some time experimenting now to see the benifits and then look at buying the full version which I am sure will be worth it.

Many thanks again
