service intervals

Hi all
I live in Israel and just recently they've moved to a 9300 mile or 1 year(whichever comes first)interval between services as oposed to the 6200 miles or 1/2 a year interval, claiming that the fuel quality has been upgraded in Israel to Euro 3 standard, thus enabling longer intervals between services.
1.)I'd like to know what are your intervals over in the U.K and any other Euro countries as well??
I would think that in terms of an oil change they are too far apart(9300 miles) - Any comments?

Running in may be different.
The 6 month servicing interval is an old historic thing in the UK/Europe (at least)to check that stuff like radiator coolant Antifreeze levels are ok. -- Lovely weather.
If anything 12 months post running in - change oil every 6 months.

In the med I would imagine filters / engine temps would get more of a pounding and would therefore need more frequent service so the 6 month oil change would be a definate plus point when selling on. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

The new maintenance schedule to VAG cars in Israel has nothing to do with the euro 3 fuel!
To the best of my knowledge thay have implemented a new policy by VAG concerning their cars in the Middle East and the turnover to synthetic oils for the Turbo engines.
Look at your official SEAT maintenance book and you'll see that they recommend a yearly checkup or 15,000 Km, which ever comes first.
That is in the English one. The Hebrew one, I was told, is under revision now and a new version is underway. I have recieved a written message home from SEAT anouncing me of the new maintenance schedule. By the way. as I got my new car they mentioned the new schedule to me also.
Anyway, if you live in a very dusty place or work the car all day long in the city, SEAT and the importer recommend shorter oil change schedules, every 6 months!
