Only found this site today, very useful and informative! Got a question with regard to CD autochangers for my Ibiza Cupra. I've been quoted £350 quid from my Seat dealer to fit one, seems a bit steep. I have heard of a Sony one that has just come out that is compatable with the head unit which can be bought and installed for around £200 quid (Halfords!). Anyone got any ideas/suggestions ? Is the car pre cabled for a changer in the boot, dealer wasn't sure when I asked.

Simon.

Simon,

Nice to see you've found us.....

As for the CD changer, have a word with your parts manager at your dealer. See if they'll do a supply only at £200ish. Then fit it yourself, I'm sure if you scout around on this site that the part numbers are listed for the changer and bracket. It's a Panasonic one btw.

In my 20vt Ibiza the cable for the changer is in the left hand side of the boot, under the carpet. Look out for the three holes cut out of the carpet ready for the screws.

Cheers
Andy

Cheers Andy, I will search the boot tonight! Do you know if you can get other Panasonic after market changers to work, preferable 10 disc?

Simon,

I must admit I don't know. Flapper was going to try one I think but I don't think he's had chance..... You could pop along to your local Halfords and get one of the sales people to bring one out to try it, the only problem would be getting a bracket to fit the pre-drilled holes.

Cheers
Andy

Just called my local Seat dealer (Lister Coventry) where I bought the car. They have quoted £317 + vat for the changer plus brackets without fitting!!! Does anyone know where I can get one without having to exchange an arm or a leg in the process??!

Simon,
I also brought my Ibiza cupra from Seat Coventry and thought it was too much for a crap multichanger, so I got a Panasonic DP9061 multichanger fitted with conversion cable working great cost about £280 not sure exact price as I had a lot a work done ie amp, speakers pre out kit etc. but it is under £300 for changer on its own. From Piolet in earlsdon 02476678889. Not much cheaper but looks a lot better and works better.

Cheers for the info Duncan. I took the car down to Amethyst in Cheltenham. The main man Daz fitted the changer in quick time for £235 all in ...... the man's a star, I'll probably get my servicing done at Amethyst as well as I'm not too sure about Listers, how have you found them?
