Well out of the blue and two weeks before I was expecting it my new baby turned up at the dealer yesterday:) just 5 weeks after placing the order!!

One platinum grey Altea TDi Sport (manual) with the 17inch alloys which have caused so many delays for everybody but me it seems.

Will give you my thoughts on how she goes when the fecking rain stops.... dont want to get my baby all dirty yet

Anyway I have included some pic's of the car and the alloys (for those who are interested)

How is the ride with the 17" wheels ?. I have ordered mine with those and worry just a little bit about the ride quality. Nimay was going to report when they got theirs since they had been driving around with 16" wheels.

Thanks for the pics.

I haven't done a comparison yet as I am still driving round in the demo the dealer has lent me. I can report that after 900 miles it is a very nice car. It is considerably firmer than the VW Bora (also sport spec) I am trading in. It cruises very nicely on the motorway although some of the M6s surfaces can be harsh. On a 200 mile drive round north Wales last week it averaged 55mpg and I didn't have any backache at all which is unusual after 5 hours of driving, those lovely seats. There are a few things I have noticed which I wondered if they were peculiar to this car: no sunglasses holder where drivers grab handle would go, no cruise control light on the dashboard (I can see where it should be though), no seat belt light/audible alarm as stated in the manual.

Do report back with your comparison once you have done it.... interesting what you said. I will be pleased if I get 55 MPG. I did notice on the M11 round here on the test drive that it did [the Sport 16" wheels] drop into road surfaces with a bump... so most of the time it was fine then you would feel the car drop into the road and the steering wheel was weighted or whatever it would continue rotating after you had swung it around as I recall, something that my Citreon does not do.

The ride is deffo harder than on the 16's you only notice it on the really patched up roads..... motorways and decent A roads are fine. Also fair bit of road noise on certain surfaces. But having said all that to me you have got to be mad not to go for the 17's as it makes the car look so much better and the Bridgesone RE05 Potenza's hang on like there is no tommorow.... I have had the ESP light flashing like a christmas tree... its a hoot :D Damn must remember Im supposed to be running this car in.... boy its hard!

Mines just the same no sunglass holder or cruise control light.... had'nt noticed the seat belt warning light!! (so that obviously is not there!).

Has you altea got the TDI badge on both wings as mine only has it on the drivers side which seems odd..... wondering if pedro had a bad day at the factory??

Glad to see your returning good MPG.... I believe I am getting mid fortys if the trip computer is to be trusted.

Perhaps Nimay has a lighter foot  .... we seem to be getting a lot of information to keep me going until I get my DSG... I'll let you know how that goes whenever I get it... they say less than a month and DSGs are shifting in the UK already so I'm told as well. So that story about delays in DSG were false - so I'm told again by my Seat dealer.

Really does look like a cross between the new BMW 1 series and a Alfa 147 5 door

Hi Nimay,

How did you manage to get 55mpg?? Is that the 2.0TDi? The most i have got in mine is 47mpg according to the trip computer??

Greeny - nice Altea - i like those wheels.

Yes it is a 2.0TDi. It was a long run around an area I don't know and although its not my car it is on my insurance, the weather was also pretty bad (Wales after all) and I didn't know where any of the local cameras were so it was driven reasonably gently. The trip computer was reading higher but it dropped to 55 when I got to the dual carriageway and stuck the cruise control on at about 80 all the way back to where we were staying.

Very nice indeed, I am sure it will settle nice on those alloys given a few miles under its belt.

TELL I look forward to your thoughts on the DSG when you get it as I am dying to have a go in one fitted.

Hi greeny,

I have the TDI badge on both wings.....looks like they had a bad day!!

I have no sunglass holder either...have not used cruise control yet so cannot tell about the the light.

I also only have one 12v socket in the middle of the rear seats and a cig lighter on the centre console. The demonstrator i took out had no cig lighte and two 12v sockets. Looks like the have played with the specs a bit....

Aparently the sunglasses holder was a feature of the original press launch cars and the ones dealers were shown, but it has since been deleted! Contrary to the brochure, heated seats are available in the Uk though. I have now driven both a 1.9TDI Stylance and a 2.0TDI Sport, and neither had a cruise control light, which I think is a little dangerous! Also, its a shame they don't have the seatbelt warning light/buzzer because that may keep if from getting the full five stars in the EuroNCAP crash test it will soon be undergoing - from what Ive read elsewhere that contributes to the full five stars... Another gripe - why can't Seat put in a few of the little feelgood factors like courtesy lights in the doors? Even Skoda Fabia's have this and it wouldn't take much to implement. Anyway thats a small moan (of many I have!) and the Alte is a nice car to drive

Quick - take it back. He's given you crappy number plates.

You could get pulled over for that.

Aside from that - nice car though.
