This new engine from VW will soon feature in the new Ibiza. Just picked up the paper showing that this engine can get the Golf from 0-60 in 8.6 (pretty quick for a deisel). So with less wait to pull surley it can get the ibiza to 1.8T times, oh and without burning so much petrol!!

Can you chip the 150 TDI?

Seriously considering getting the new bezza. I think i'll be speaking to wim again.

P.S How long till the 1.8T arrives in the new Ibiza?

you can chip the 150 to about 180ish with over 300lb torque. but as far i a know the new ibiza will only have a 130 derivative tdi not the 150. at that the 130 should still see 150+ chipped unless seat are chipping the 110 to 130 already.

Think the 130 is the new PD engine not a chipped 110

A major appeal of the Ibiza, however, is the 130 bhp PD diesel version, an engine option not offered in either the Polo or Fabia ranges. Further distance will also be put between the brands when the sporty Cupra versions join the range; these are predicted to arrive early next year, with a hot Ibiza Cupra and an even hotter Cupra R "almost definitely" under development.

SEAT has a variety of VW Group engines to choose from to fit in these models, and the most likely candidates are the popular 1.8-litre non-turbo and 1.8T turbo engines. However, don't forget that there are also some powerful latest-technology diesel engines available: the Cupra R could go all-out in terms of torque and have the TDI PD 150 engine, as fitted in the Golf. A diesel hot hatch? Stranger things have happened.

From memory...
TDI130 to 163bhp and 305lbs.ft
TDI150 to 182bhp and 312lbs.ft

for the usual £280 ish.

Dont think the gearbox would last too long on the 130 if chipped with over 300lb/ft available, where as the 150 has quite a few parts upgraded to cope with increased standard power. Does anyone have further information on wear and tear - like how long before something goes ping or bang with an chipped engine - petrol or diesel.
