I thought the leon cupra had a k03s. I would have thought a k04-023 would have been a better move forward, or a proper big turbo ihi or garrett.

isn't it the k04-01 thats prone to failure?

its weaker than the k03s and jabba have had a few go pop hence them dropping this conversion and going k03s but other peeps like Robdon seems to have his running well

The ko4-01 is only weaker in the shaft, it will flow a tiny bit more air than the ko3S but isnt quite as robust. If you dont try to spike it too high in the midrange (23psi etc) it will hold up fine and should flow a good bit over 1 bar to redline hence 245-250bhp (a genuine 245 that is!).

If you have a ko3s tho the money aint worth the extra wonga for the power you'd gain. Its gonna shift the power band up about 1krpm....

As for the TT ko4 ala 023, 024 variant..... these aint a direct bolt on and would require a different manifold, DP combination. Your then probably looking at injectors and other hardware. There is a 250bhp wall that is VERY expensive to cross on our motors, its about deciding what your goals are really.

Anybody know the difference between the 022 and the 023 ?

My K04 is a hybrid and performs the same or better than a K04-023, certainly alot better than the 001, 278BHP at 1.2 BAR of boost (17.5PSI) and is still a bolt on replacement for the K03S. I don't know the specs of the hybrid K04, you'd have to ask Star Performance as they have them built to their specs.

*UPDATED*: Latest figures on the Star dyno on Sunday - 293BHP and 296lbft of torque, the K04-001 might only get you around 245BHP but this hybrid K04 rocks big time! I used the NX intercooler spray and 102 octane fuel for this run, around 282BHP without the NX spray.
