View Full Version : Is labour included in warranty repairs?

Hi all,
Can anyone help?
My 2001 Ibiza went in for a warranty replacement of the external temperature sensor today.
Anyway, the sensor has rusted into the housing in the mirror so they say the mirror needs to be replaced... £100+ then they tell me there is also a half hour of labour to be payed (fault tracing)... £40+.
The dealer didn't seem to get the fact that it was booked in for a "warranty repair" because they told me there wasn't any warranty on the car so I'd need to pay for everything, when I reminded them that the service book and SEAT extended warranty booklet were in the drivers seat pocket they said they would get back to me... They haven't got back but still have the motor.
Should these things all be covered by the SEAT warranty or am I going to be very poor next week?

If it's a warranty repair then it's all paid for I believe. I've never paid anything for warranty work.

I'll just have to wait for them to get in touch tomorrow, hopefully they'll have put a new mirror on and my temp sensor and heating will start working again!

yup and to make it funnier, seat set out standards on how long each job should take, if the dealer takes longer than the time allowed, its out of their own budget!!

The car has been returned and I've had an update, they have no mirrors in stock so want to book it in again once their delivery has arrived. I have to give the service department at All Electric Halesowen a call tomorrow to sort it out... looks like I'll be finding out tomorrow exactly what is covered by the warranty!
Fingers crossed it'll all be ok!

If for what ever reason the work that is required isnt covered by your extended warranty they are obligated to tell you before hand before any work is carried out.
As with all work carried out by a dealer you have the right to say no I dont want it done.
Oh and a little note, the sensor is plastic and the mirror housing is aluminium, how does that rust in there?
I done rather alot of the ambient temp sensors, sounds like someone has been a bit clumsy.

cheers for that Techie, the car is booked back in to have the mirror replaced on Friday I'll be sure to give them a call on Wednesday or Thursday to confirm that the mirror, sensor and labour are all under warranty.
Whats that about the mirror being aluminium and sensor plastic... why are so many people having issues with them rusting up? Is there any way of protecting against the replacement mirror/sensor doing the same thing or am I just going to have to replace it out of my own pocket once the warranty is up?

Just a quick message to end the discussion, the Ibiza went back to All Electric on Friday the wing mirror has been replaced and the sensor now works... so the temperature controls in the car work again!
I checked through my SEAT warranty booklet and found the following (or words to this effect) 'the warranty includes all parts, labour and vat' so it doesn't cost a penny as long as the warranty is valid (ie no modifications).
