When I usually drive my fave road from Taunton to exeter and back it takes about 8-10 quid of petrol and the fuel computer shows about 25mpg (it very rarely goes over this since the cams and chip) today the fuel computer registered a suprising 35mpg on the way there. I thought it was having a laugh after the trackday and so reset it for the way home - but lo and behold i was given the same reading and when I got home I'd used about a fiver of petrol. Bearing in mind i know this road very well and don't hang around (60-80mph mostly) i'm puzzled. Can anyone shed any light on this sudden economy increase????

Hmm.
Have you confirmed with brimming the tank on fill up and working out the mpg?
I don't believe the mpg's personally from the MFA trip computer.

On the older cars, they were fed a vacuum signal, which approximated the mpg. IF yours runs a similar system, maybe you have a vacuum leak? OR maybe its just workign now and was'nt before?

The tank refill and calc will confirm this or not for you.
