This is sort of complicated so bear with me please.

My friend bought a 1998 cupra but without the remote control key. We don't want to go spend £60 on a new key and program it only to find out the car has a faulty signal receiver or even no receiver at all.

I thought I'd reprogram the remote key of my 1997 SX and see if it unlocks/locks the cupra's doors. If it works we get a new key for the cupra. I am afraid of doing something to mess up my SX's keyless entry system. Will it easy to revert to the SX settings once the testing is done? Is there a danger of anything going bad?

Thanks

program it to his , then re program it back to yours :) try it like this

turn ign on for 1 sec (lights lit)

turn off and HOLD 1 button

press other button 3 times (@ 0.5 second intervals) on/off/on/off/on/off say it as you do it you'll be fine

release buttons (LED should flash 3/4 times )

THEN test it (doos closed, sit inside ya never know)

and VOILA

if no joy , try it again using buttons the other way round ,but as long as it flashes after you release it ya doing ok

WHEN DONE leave ignition on (lights) for over 5 sec
