You will lose power if you fit a "whooshy" type DV!

yeah but a few bhp is worth the looks and jealousy.... plus i was told if u have it rechipped it can be compensated for... so plan was to do this the same time.. neway back onto the main question is there a whooshy dump valve out there that will fit??? Pleeeaaaassseeeee...

You will probably get a CEL if you fit an atmospheric dump valve. The amount of air entering the intake system is measured by the MAF sensor so if you fit a dump valve that releases the excess boost to atmosphere, the car will think that there is a leek and will most likely throw a check engine light.

but cant a remapped chip compensate for this????

The dumped air from the DV gets dumped back into the intake before the turbo, if I remember the piping correctly. eg after the MAF, so it should'nt be seen as additional airflow, but might be seen as a nett loss of Mass Air Measured but then dumped to atmosphere, hence the problem potentials mentioned.

The only thing I would be cautious about is the kits are probably USA sourced and designed for LHD cars. I would'nt want to presume everything just bolts together.

Good point Bill, we've all heard what happens when you get a LHD kit for a RHD car - it can end up getting ugly!!

Had a wooshy DV on my cupra, was bored one weekend with some money to spend to i thought what the hey!!

POO!!!!

sounded seriously cool but it did lose a lot of performance plus it would dump when the engine was revving at about 3000RPM so one touch of the throttle and it sounded like there was someone under the bonnet letting down a balloon!!!

waste of money, but every now and then its cool to put it on and scream through the tunnel in ramsgate (echo's really well!)

Shock_Xe,

If you need any advise on importing, I can put you in touch with a guy who I imported mine through. If you dont mind going over to Holland to collect it (all good fun), there's great savings to be made (I saved about £3500 :) ).

Anyway, let me know if you want some help or advise, it really is easy and you get a trip to Holland as well (Fly over, drive back :D )

Cheers

what about 2nd hand imports are they as good a saving?a 2nd hand import would work out about 6k wouldn't it?which would be nice:D

Not sure, but the problem with second hand imports is they'll all be LHD :(
