View Full Version : OK - somebody throw me a sales pitch for Swissol
I have been using Autoglym for years now - expensive but not extortionate for what it does.
I always apply to large areas with an electric buffer and the results are good.
Can somebody who has used Swissol give me an account of how it works - application etc etc, an whether it is any good.
oh and cost - do i need to remortgage? :p
Well i just did mine and it looks amazing once again there was athread whichj was a shiney competition have a look at the results! doddle to use and top stuff

A basic description and reason would be Autoglym is a polish, contains microgranules that basically cut away at the surface of the paint to make it shine, short term, nice, long term not so good because you eventually start scoring the paint.
T-Cut for instance is a polish but with a much harsher effect than a standard polish, but a polish is cutting the surface of oxidising paint to give a lustred finish.
Swissol / Zymol is a wax and sits on the paint and protects the paint finish underneath from weathering etc. Effectively prevents the oxidisation in the first place and seals in the paint finish.

That explains things a bit better..........thanks
How many times would you reccommend applying and how many applications do you get from a kit? because £400 for one (albeit the top jobba) seems expensive
What kits have people here bought in the past?
u wont need the concorso wax kit
i use the saphir with good results and the starter kit is only
£98 and i think we 10% off that
Hi Peeps
Think i've tried just about all the waxs and polishes around in the past.
Autoglymn easy to apply but doest seemto last IMO
Mer looks good but difficult to remove and quite abbrasive
Zymol excellent but takes a long time and costs a bomb - neighbours think mad as apply with hand not a cloth! :D
Meguiars good stuff again quite a labour of love
Must admit never seen Swissol though (will def give it a go).
Currently using P21s Concours Wax. Very similar to Zymol Titanium but seems to give a better result on my black car also a lot easier to remove. [B)] Meguiars Show Car Polish is pretty good on black as well - but you also need to wax over it as it only offers limited protection.
Rob
cheers rob, pretty good rn down there,
where abouts in essex are you?
Hi Waddy

Must admit I agree with those comments although I applied the Zymol with an applicator, I now use Swissol Saphir and it's ease of application is a major selling point. Direct sunlinght no problem, big areas no problem and comes off easy.
Think the wax is about £60 a pot and you should get circa 50 applications so not too expensive.
Pictures in my sig. below show the results.
My car has done circa 30k miles in 18 months and these were taken last week (only washed no wax last week)

I'm from Grays so not too far !
Cheers for the advice guys - will prob get the starter kit jobbie to begin with and see how i get on.
Used Wonderwheels on the front alloys whilst they were hot (which was a tad silly really :hide: ) and i reckon it has stained the wheels - tried like buggery to get the marks off but to no avail - any ideas?

Most people on here that I know are fans of MC2 wheelcleaner which is made by a man called Mark Underwood aka the Wax Wizard......(do a search for MC2), he used to sell Swissol too but doesn't anymore.
Would you like two or three bottles sir?
Otherwise know as the alternative close! ;)
I am a recent Swissol convert! Been using the Oynx, which is only £29 per tub and that tub will last me a year or two IMO.
I have tried Meguiars, Autoglym, Turtlewax (expensive stuff) and others and Swissol just beats them hands down! Almost effortless to apply and it lasts for yonks when it is on (as long as you wash with neutral or very mild shampoo).
The shine is deep...even when the car is covered in dirt! The best thing about this other than the amazing shine is the fact you can apply in direct sunlight (the hotter the better apparently) and if you get some over your black trim, there is no marks!
Top stuff ... as a tub lasts so long, the price is not really an issue for me.
Dont AutoGlym do a wax as well as a polish?

Dont AutoGlym do a wax as well as a polish?
Not AFAIK, it's all super resin polish, glass polish and polish polish

Auto Glym do a product called "Extra Gloss Protection"
That according to them
"To achive the ultimate paintwork finish, as demanded by the perfectionist, this is the product to use. Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection is an extra tough, protective sealant that contains a complex blen of hard resins and waxes.
Unlike a polish, it contains no cleaning or polishing agents and should only be used on clean, dry, blemish-free paintwork. Treated surfaces are protected with a super-tough finish to keep paintwork looking brilliant for longer."
I have not tried this yet, but I am going to get some this week and give it a go.

Don't you need loads of drying time for this product? Not the best time of year for that really...

Fair enough, If it's a Wax then it will state the content of Carnauba Wax (anything over 30-35% is good).
