View Full Version : Anyone using an Apexi Boost Controller?
Not heard many people on here using them.
Any reason why?
Would it not be an ideal solution to get good MPG by dropping the boost down, and then when being naughty turning the boost up?

had a look at these yesterday, seems an inpresive bit of kit if does what it says it can!
cheapest i could find one was £330
You can find them brand new on ebay for about £250.
In the Rover[R.I.P :( ] camp the Apexi avc-r is probably the most used electric boost controller you can get.
They are a very good piece of kit as i can vouch for, they do alot more than just control boost can set different boost levels for each gear etc.
I will say one thing though you can just slap it on and away you go you need to get it set up by some one whos knows what they are doing, other wise you may aswell not bother.
You can pick up an AVC-R from the states for as little as £200 if you look around but £250 is still a very good price for this piece of kit.
Hope this helps lads

do they sort out the fuelling issues that will arise?
I think not.
I was under the impression fuelling was adjusted dependant on readings from the MAF?
So if you up the boost, the MAF would tell the ECU to get more fuel in?

most chip upgrades etc run slightly rich anyway, so now i've got water/methanol i can up my boost and timing etc.

how?
as the maf is ambient pressure side?
it will run majorly lean with just a boost controller.

Within the limits of the adaption windows yes... not limitless.
Dpends how much you are trying to acheive from it vs a remap/rechip.

And of course as soon as you wind up the boost beyond the max std threshold, you'll go straight into limp home mode!!
(much like going straight to jail and not collecting £200! :roflmao: )
(basically the std ecu will spot it no longer has control of boost pressure and retaliate by removing your control of the throttle plate!)
Fair enough, not the answer i was looking for, but an answer none the less.
