What is it?
flexible turbo inlet pipe(tip),connects air filter and other ancilleries to turbo(see o/e /samco comparison pic)

whats the point of swapping it?
On chipped motors the standard pipe has been found to collaspe(this is also due to heat in that area which makes standard tip v soft)and strangle air intake @ 5k+revs,AMD before chipping recommend this mod,the bare mininium is that they fit a steel ring in the tip to prevent this happening.
The noise is awesome, not boyracer ish, just more of the turbo spool noise and u hear you DV more ,very nice indeed

How much?
around £99+vat got mine from awesome gti loads of colours although blue/black is normally stocked www.awesome-gti.co.uk
how long to fit?
allow 1-2 hours took me 1 hour(inc find boost leak on dv port which had become slack  )
How hard to fit?
scale of 1-10 a 6
Tools req'd.
flat and posi screwdriver
7mm and 10mm socket and small rachet(+extension bar)
various jubillee clips(smooth on inside ones)needed as some are one time use clips :thumbd:
side cutters electrician's
how's it fitted then?
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS UNLESS ENGINE HAS HAD A GOOD HOUR TO COOL!!!
i recommend getting a new airfilter(green filter the biz) @ same time as you are gonna remove airbox anyhow, this makes job much easier and removing engine cover two slots to turn 90 degrees
1=unplug maf sensor, remove airbox,2x 10mm bolts 1x @top near suspension strut 1x bottom behind battery, disconnect jubilee clip to t.i.p. one poziscrew)and pull away tip from airbox
2= now wiggle airbox up and out(replace filter and clean out airbox if u want @ this stage(2xblack pozi screws)

3=undo dv connection 1x jubilee (clip already on)from factory

4= cut one time use clip(otuc) off N75 valve,(above dv port)

5=cut otuc off pcv valve only port @front off tip)there are 2 cut very bottom one

6= cut otuc off breather system @back of tip very bottom port near turbo inlet

7=slacken jubilee clip off turbo inlet housing(make sure is cool)
note was very surprised to find the stadard jubilee's are mickalor(dogs bollox)

8= pull away tip (see comparsion pic)

9= fit new tip onto turbomaking sure it's fully on(mirror and torch help here)nip but do not fully tighten yet

10= refit all componants N75,pcv connection,dvwith new jubillee clips,where u cut off the otuc's

11= when everthing is connected up nip them, and then refit airbox,re torque all connections(dont go mad or jubilee's will bite into silicon hose)

12= re check all connections(inc one onto turbo) and plug maf back in tighten airbox back done 2x 10mm bolts

13= when you are happy everything is right ,fit engine cover,go for a small drive(with aura radio off) and listen to the joys of your work, and FEEL the difference

14= after test drive allow to cool and re check everthing is still o.k/ tight

This along with green filter, has got to be the best mod i have done for feeling the difference(after re map of course  )

i have no vag logs but i know it's made a difference how? when i went for a test drive the car hwas hesitating slighty(read where the fek has all this air come from)this only happened twice and the car settled when it did the car felt really strong the best for ages,(this hesistation occured twice after remap until n75 settles too).To make sure i was not imaging this i went for rich (cupra r),he drives a 225 LCR,(soz to break u off ya decorating mate)he was also impressed too, with test drive.

Like most mods take dyno power figs with a pich of salt,it is how it feels on road to YOU personally, and to honest i am rather chuffed :)

yeah will see what jim @ awesomes lcr 225 does with 3"d/pipe with sports cat built in married to miltek system, this is on a 98 ron+prog leo which i think u may have as u have cat and system but not d/pipe,i dont have this prog, did'nt know it exsisted till talked to jim, apparently cant run it on mine as u need sports zorst etc, cat, cannot get rid of gases quick enough,so runs like a dog,i will see how jim's car runs tommoz @ jbs mate, tune in tommorrow teatime  jbs's rollers are calibrated and 60k worth of lastest tech they are conservative or dare i say accurate :D if jims does around 280 bhp mine did 254.4,(without tip/filter)i am having one.mind u if i drive it which i will @ some point and like it i am having one anyhow, not married until aug,can hear divorce papers being rusttled

Hmm . . . and in english that means ? (stop the half txt language  )

I have the full Milltek system (rear tailpipe/ centre silencer / 200 cel high flow cat) and no 3" downpipe, but because i have a positive feed CAI i'd need a custom map anyway to get the best out of it. Might just get the downpipe when i get the FMIC.

Any part numbers or is it just the same as the TT?

YerMother
08-11-2004, 18:25
Same as TT i think mate! I thinking of investing in one! Everyone is raving on about them! Plus they look better than the OE induction pipe! :)

I went into RPM's which is a good family run place by me and he got the book out and showed me that samco only list 2 turbo pipes for the LCR and a TIP for the TT. S o i said it sod it order the top intake hoses and the TIP from the TT anbd ill make them fit! He tried to phone up Samco but there technical guys were with fast car or fast ford or someone, so he was gona ring them 2moz, i was just gona save him the time!

He did say tho he is expecting an update sheet within a few days maybe that will have them!

Only thing is im going for yello so could be a 12 week wait!
