Has anyone tried running two k&n filters! the reason for wanting to do this is live right next to the beach,the sand flying around gets every where and would not trust one to filter properly.
k&n recomend two for such conditions,have a choice here,stick two panel filters together or stick a cone in the airbox and then fit the panel one on top as normal.has anyone any thoughts on this!
keen to fit a oil based one as there is a distinct difference in smoothnes of engine whether around town or on the open road.
Also two filters has to be far better than any paper for collecting crap. :)

Just a suggestion.
K&N can supply pre-filter material which is a fairly coarse fibre material. they advise this for wrapping around their Filter elements (cones) on Baja Race buggies etc, where they race across the desert.
Perhaps a combination of this pre-filter material before the main K&N element/panel would give you the extra reassurance you are after.
K&N filters would'nt allow sand through though, and worst case they would just need more regular cleaning and checking if in a sandy environment.

From the guy that has spoken to K&N more this past week that probably most of the K&N suppliers in the UK... lol
There is very little, and probably no chance of particulate material being passed through a K&N filter panel. The fibre matrix is very tight and K&N are one of the best on the market.
Short of trying out an EU13 HEPA filter in the box, I don't think there is much better you can put in.
I agree with Bill that trying the pre-filter material is a go-er, as this would remove the larger particulates (eg. sand), and should provide cleaner air onto the main filter panel.
In all likihood, the factor that you live near the beach is just going to mean that you clean the filter panel more often than the recommended time, and if possible try and keep your engine as clean as possible and free of debris.
If you are looking at filters for your car the following are the K&N part numbers that are required.
Leon = KN-33-2128
Ibiza = KN-33-2172
Spain itself is a fairly dusty and arid country in many parts, so I expect that they have designed the car to be capable of operating in those sorts of conditions, so I expect that you shouldn't see any adverse effects of living in Norfolk.. apart from the obvious severe boredom with the lack of nightlife..!! lmao.. :p
good luck...
