New boy...be gentle with me.
Chipped 2L 16v cupra ibiza with odd exhaust combo supplied & fitted by hung-over, wildly disorganised RSD.
Milltek centre with Remus twin square back box.

Nice, quiet deep burble on idle.
Good fruity sound on acceleration building to a real scream at 7K on the tacho:)
BUT over 3.5K this resonates badly with nasty boom. Didnt used to be a problem but as I do loadsa motorway miles cruising at 3.5 to 4K its doing my head in.

Have had a look around & though maybe a Milltek tiwn jet would help. Maybe a custom job by powerflow?
Any ideas, guys cos all I hear is how LOUD other exhausts are ???

Standard backbox with a weld on tailpipe section from jetex? or if you're after peformance, a jetex system is meant to be fairly quiet.

Does the center section make much difference to the noise levels? I have the twin square Remus back box on my 8v but the rest is standard. It hums/burbles at idle but doesn't seem to make any noise under acceleration (I had to buy an induction kit to sort that out :) ). I agree though that it is a bit boomy at 3.5-4K.

I have read/heard that 16vs make more of an exhaust note anyway, is that a characteristic of the engine or does the center pipe have a bigger bore?

Cheers,

Steve

I would not get Powerflow then cos they are pretty loud!

Get a supersprint, I think it's just right on my 16v cordy

mate of mine has a 2.0 16v tipo with a powerflow stainless, its just right, not too load, but loud enough...

loud loud loud! Go for it, you know you want it!

Why keep that piddly little SEAT back box on with the tail pipes that rust after 3 weeks?

You know you want a nice shiny tail pipe .... who cares about power, its looks as well that count!

i had the Milltek cat back system on my 8v ibiza, that was just right. Only a little more of a tone to it over standard. Nice 4"x3" tail pipe too.
