Hi there, some advice if possible please.

My car has just gone over 15,000 and is now flashing oil (and spannel is on) because it is due an oil change service. My next annual service is in March.

In the manual it says it may ok to leave it until the next service if it falls near. But how near? Do I need to get this done or shall I wait til it goes to Seat in march?

Also if it does need doing, any reason why this simple job cant be done by a local garage rather than paying dealer prices?

Thanks in advance

Rob

I think SEAT say not to go over the due millage by 1000 miles tops!

You can go to a local Garage but they HAVE to use SEAT parts and they have to use the oil that SEAT recommends. Oil change at dealer should be around the £90-£100 mark

If I am going to spend £100 I might aswell get my annual service done early and get the whole lot done? No reason why I cant get it done early is there? Anyone know what price im looking at for annual service at dealer. Looking to go to Droitwich garages.

Just a bit of feedback.

Thought before i took it in I would actually get the oil checked. Hehe I had very little, topped it up, spanner has gone.

NOTE TO SELF - SEATS BURN OIL LIKE PETROL.

£100 oil change! £10 for labour and supply your own at most garages. Or say £30 using their own 'crap' oil.

Is it a petrol or a diesel? If its a petrol then SEAT say Castrol SLX or Magnetec.
If its a Diesel then Castrol PD

I think all UK VAG cars warn you too early, as they warn you in KM intervals, which is different to mile intervals we use over here.

My 20k service warning light came on at 15k, so I promptly reset it and carried on.
