View Full Version : trouble cipping !
Last week i went to have a trial chip uploaded to my drive by wire 2001 ibiza cupra, only to be told that with my car you have to have the chip actually changed and they would need to have my car for a coule of days to do the work :-o !
A friend of a friend says he could get me a chip for about £100 to do the same as i was going to have with the serial port tuning, but i need to get it fitted . Does anyone have any ideas where i can get this done and how much will it cost ?

What software was this?
Is the car already chipped?

my motor had its chip swapped in an hour. depends whos doing it i suppose. i was told that the new 04 (dunno about 03 etc) couldnt be remapped serially.

That'll be the EDC16 ECu as found on the 2.0tdi and i think the FSI. I'm sure they'll eventually get routines that be able to remap the ECU without physically removing/soldering chips.
On the ibiza it sound strange though. Possibly already been chipped by someone as Bill mentions.
The software was APR and no my car isn't already chipped it's standard except from an induction kit and a bailey dump valve . It's been on the rollers and it was running 158.8bhp and 172.7lbft torque so pretty my standard .

THis is comon now as VAG are desperatly trying to stop serial tuning, and also Subaru are now fitting black boxes to see if the car has ever had its ECu tinkered with, they have already voided one warranty in the UK, The chance you take i spose.
