I know that this question has probabaly been asked before.... but where is the best place to buy the vag-com cable and which type do I need??
I have got a Toshiba Satellite 4000CDS laptop, It has the printer, monitor and one other connection on the back which is about the same size as the monitor connection but has the pins on the laptop instead of the cable.....if you know what I mean??

I am reading the web site right.....£140 just for the cable???
Just visiting from Briskoda.net
If you're after something a bit more reasonable try http://www.skpang.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=21. I've heard people say the quality isn't good but i've no complaints about mine, £44 delivered. You do need the old version of VAGCOM for this level of cheapness though.

Or just download some electronical schemes (there's plenty on the net) and build your own interface, the total price for the components is less than 1£.
If you're not good at electronics tho (like me) then you can always find that "friend of a friend" who does play with that stuff that can build the right cable for a surely more reasonable price,,,
At least that's what I did,,, (well, I found a great person that built it and sent it to me from holland for free,,, what a great guy, will never end thanking him!!)
I got a cable off Ebay for £36, it works just fine.

Anyone know where I can get the cable to car adapter from and also the wiring diagram??
As I work for an electronics company, just been talking to the guys in production and they said they could make a cable easy.
Cheers

Same one ive got.
You need to put it together once youve bought it, but it takes 2 minutes once you find the wiring diagram.
Thats a bit better. As long as it works ok, I'm not worried. How can I tell wot version of Vag-com do I have??

I'm sure there is an 'About' style section somewhere in the program, I can't check for you unfortunately as the program is 'secreted away' on one of the work laptops.

So this cable. you have to put it together??? I take it the link above is the instructions on how to put it together and make it work??
Cheers
There are wiring instructions on the site here...
http://www.andywhittaker.com/ecu/obdii_hardware.htm
you are given the cable with 4 wires coming out the end with connectors, and an OBD2 connector seperate. Its just a matter of putting the two together with the correct connecter in the correct position. Easy peasy.

www.skpang.co.uk - cheap and well made.
Its just a cable, and its easy to put together.
There are 'better, out the box ready' ones available.
So which ones would you recommend.
