Now this I find hard to believe - my Cordoba has nice heated mirrors (hell even my Girlfriends Skoda Felicia does!) but the deom Altea Sport I have just driven to work in appears not to - and I really needed them this morning! I find that amazing - they can put them on a 14k Cordoba but not on the top of the range 17k Altea. Hardly progress! If you Altea guys know otherwise please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks

Not sure if its the same as the leon? The heated mirrors come on with the rear window heater? Where as in the cordy and ibiza mk4 they come on when the mirror switch is in the central position?

Just a guess mate :)

i also discovered this on our altea. They are not heated even when the rear window heater is on. Shame really as they were really useful. But i can live without them. My leon cupra had them....

perhaps UK spec altea's differ slightly from other euro versions - like the seat belt warning light and cruise control light that is also missing....?

The manual says they are heated when the mirror adjusting switch is in the central position, but then again the manual says a lot of things. As my car lives in the garage I hadn't noticed that yet.

So we get folding mirrors but not heated

i will double check this next time i am in the car...

Yes you are correct guys - there are a number of features shown in the manual missing from UK spec cars! I tried all combinations of switch position, heated rear window etc and no go. Rubbish!
Likewise the lack of cruise control warning light (a dangerous oversight imho), seat belt warning etc. Not impressed :(

at less do you have the light in the dash box?

lot of Alteas don't have it... althought it's claimed they have one in the advertisment notice...
I will receive mine next week... will see if it has this light or not

No there is no glovebox light on my car. Or if there is it is hidden behind everything in the glovebox.
Has everyone got the orange glowing lights in the bottom of the rear view mirror?

I orderd my FR Ibiza in July and by the time it was delivered (November) the heated mirrors were no longer an option. Lots of little things changed when the 2004 became the 2005 models

The heated mirrors are apparently an "omission" from UK models.... they are available/fitted to LHD models!

The Sport I tried did have a glove box light, and the lovely Audi style 'indirect lighting' that makes my new 3-series touting mate weep! (Guess some good is coming from SEAT being under Audi!) but it didn't have the cruise control warning light, the heated mirrors, the global closure (hold the remote button and the windows should close) or the 'welcome back' headlights - that is to say that if you use the 'see you home' headlight feature, according to the book when you subsequently come back and unlock the car if it is still dark the headlights should come back on again...

Not wanting to keep harping on about the things not fitted to UK Altea's (though why we should be left out I don't know!) but has anyone got the washer-fluid bottle empty warning light mentioned in the book? More over has anyone got the fancy Volvo V40-style text information display readout (where the trip computer display is I think) that comes up with text alerts (like washer level low!) - I don't know if we get that or not?

Don't know about the washer fluid warning light but I certainly haven't got the text information system as one of the messages comes up when the low fuel light comes on and I know all I get is a beep and the light coming on.

I've just had a look through the original brochure I received from the motor show and I notice that side rubbing strips were a standard item on all models. I'm glad there not on the car as looking at which bit of the door wants to hit my garage wall first they would have to be the same height as the door handles

UK models of the Altea get neither..... which presumably means UK New Toledos won't either!

Stop whinging.
My Irish spec Stylance doesnt get:-
3rd year warranty
Climate control
Auto dipping rear view mirror
Dark green tint to rear windows
Alarm

As some consolation I did get a spare wheel and a black plastic thingy in the ashtray
Oh and I nearly forgot, an extra £2k in my back pocket.

It will, of course, also come with a free sneer every time you take it into a UK dealer! :)

And just discovered there's no bloomin light in the glovebox either - cheapskates! Guess they are giving reasons to buy an Audi still ....!

Seat always has these minor issues with new cars. But, about that glovebox light: it wil cost you about 7 euro to put it in yourself. Just go to your dealer and ask for a glovebox light + switch.

Are we sure the mirrors aren't heated
The other morning my mirrors started misting up so I put the mirror control in the centre position and switched the heated rear screen on. Within a few minutes my mirrors were clear. I admit it could have just been a coincidence as I had just entered a town and the warmer town air could have cleared them.

I had the mirror covers off today and I can only see 5 wires going in. 2 look like they go to the power fold motor and the other 3 disappear towards the centre presumably for the mirror adjustment. I don't know

Hi Nimay,

You could be right but I don't think so! My ones certainly didn't clear even after a half-hour journey to work with the heated rear screen on, and the garage confirmed the Altea's and new Toledo's don't have them when I mentioned it :( Crazy on a 17k car if you ask me, as is the lack of a glove box light!

I have read and re read the car brochure and the whilst the mirrors are electric they ARE NOT HEATED.

That's a shame because I am keen to purhase one of these beasts in 2.0 TDI DSG form.

What a big oversight.

Please correct me if I am wrong anyone.

ps great web site!

Aparently its only the UK (possibly some other markets) that don't get heated mirrors (and numerous other goodies that feature in the manual) but don't let it put you off an otherwise great car. It is cheaper than an Audi with the same engine (and heated mirrors!) remember :)
