Hi
I am having my Octavia Vrs Jabba'd and also a boost controller fitted soon, do you think it is worth having a dump valve fitted at the same time? Will it add to the performance?

I am just asking here to get a second opinion as opposed to the Briskoda forum, as there seem to be some differances of opinions. Thnaks :)

The standard Bosch dump valve is one of the most common faults on the 1.8T engine, they are a weak link along with coil pack and MAF's etc.

Changing the DV won't give more BHP but may improve reponse and increase reliability.

When I had my car Revo'd I had a fair few problems with the DV, it couldn't cope, so I changed it and everything was fine.

You can get a Forge DV from Westec (see dicounts section) for circa £85 with discounts, I would recommend the Forge over the Bailey DV (I have had both).

Please note some people never change the standard DV and everything is fine, others like me are less fortunate and end up having to change for something better.

Ok thanks i'll check that out, i might just get a Forge one now and then when they remap it for me in the new year they can do it with it already on, are they easy to fit? And how noisy are they?

I have dealt with Bill @ Badger5 and Grant @ Westec on several occassions each, both are decent blokes and will look after you.

As far as fitting the dump valve is concerned it's three clips to remove, take off pipes, insert valve into pipes, tighten new jubilee clips, it's in an awkward location back of engine (off side) adjacent to MAF. You may even be able to prize (sp?) the old clips off and use again. 20min job tops (including loosing the jubilee clips down the back of the engine  ;) :roflmao: ).

Hi Ruudmeister,

I thinking about getting a Bailey DV, why do you recommend the Forge?

Cheers

Had the Bailey DV and it contributed to a boost leak problem where two of the three pipes attach, when removed from my car after 25k miles it was noticable how sloppy the internal spring was, pushing the diagphram with yer finger was easy peasy. Can't service the Bailey AFAIK so it's now in the bin.

Forge one is serviable, metal ineternal diagphram thingy not plastic, springs can by changed etc.

Oh yeah and the Bailey one was more expensive

Forge DV007P has aluminium piston..
There is a diaphragm version but I would not use one personally..

Available in black or bling (polished)

lifetime warranty.
As used on my own ibiza which runs 25psi boost and 300+bhp.... std springs also.. (why change? no need!)
