Hi,
I have been looking at buying an import Ibiza Cupra. I have noticed that you can specify ESP which is not available on UK cars. If I ordered this option and something was to go wrong with it would a UK dealer know how to fix it? Have any of you ever driven a Cupra with this fitted-is it worth having?
Thanks
Ben

All UK Cupra's do have ESP, well mine does!. And yes its worth having, as it helps you get round corners if your pushing that bit too hard!!! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif

No. ESP is not available on UK cars. it is the auto brake management thing to stabilise the car. you just have ESD and ABS and ETC or whatever else they call the diff thing...not the saem as ESP

Thats right Si, no Ibiza's in the UK will have ESP (Electronic Stability Program)
This is a feature tha only Leons have, and then only the year 2000 spec Leon Cupras, the ones that came with Leather as standard and retailed for £18,000
The Leons and Ibiza do have TCS (Traction Control System) EDL (Electronic Diff Lock thingy) and ABS Braking.
The ESP system controls the engine power and ABS brakes to prevent or lessen the car from sliding in icy or wet conditions.
Its a good feature, and it really works well.

hello i'm a french owner of a flash red ibiza
cupra 20vt with ESP.
i think that it's good for long curves cause its action is efficient but in small corners,
it really stops you !!
PS : Does anyone has a ABT chip on ibiza and how Great is it ??

is it the same kind a thing as ESP? Cos when I go into a corner a wee bit too hard and fast and start getting a bit out of shape (not that I'm a crap driver!) the engine revs drop a bit, the wheels stop fighting for grip and I contuine on my merry way. So is that the ESD?

Sounds to me that its your TCS(traction control system) & EDS (electronic differential system) kicking in to prevent you maxxing your Beeza http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/wink.gif
My Leon was supposed to come with ESP but due to the ever changing specs (or lack of) it came only with TCS....still goes like "shite off a shovel " though! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/tongue.gif
Cupras are designed to be driven "sportingly" though hence the passive & active systems that SEAT Spa has fitted http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

Do you surf then!!! I've been coming to Jersey for 20 odd years, since I was a nipper, for the annual summer holiday. My parents are over there at the moment and i understand the weathers not too good, a bit windy!
As Freedom and Surf, Dive and Ski (Think its still called that) are having their sales I've told mum & dad to stock up on clothes for me. The stuff is soo cheap, it would be insane not to buy anything, a STUSSY T'shirt over here is £25+, in their sale £11 BARGAIN.
Cant wait to come back to island. Was at one time thinking of getting a job out there (im a graphic designer), but the cost of living is on par with london, if not more! But the cost used cars is a real headturner, I nearly brought a Impreza Turbo from Maugers Garage last year, 12k and It had only done 5K miles, but it was white, unreal! But then you have to add VAT when it comes overhere, ARSE http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif
I know Jersey better than my home town, and thats no lie!!!
