Cupra 16v ecu VS Golf 3 16v ecu

Does anyone know if the mk2 cupra 16v and golf 3 16v share the same chip/ecu?

just wondering as i've been offered a mk3 golf amd off the shelf chip, I can't seem to find the code no's for these parts anywhere to check if they are the same - oh both 1997 models too if thats a help

really confused now! checked the origianl chip I had out of my cordy 16v (1997 again) and its a different serial no. to my ibiza one! any help at all?

I had a look on teh ECU on ETKA & the one for my car is from a Passat (037 number)

I'll check the ibiza one for you later if you want.

I would ignore the number on the eeprom / chip & check ECU numbers

aha, cheers mark - so if the cordy one is from a passat, does thsat mean the ibiza could use a different ecu? those crazy seat people, why can't they just stick to parts from one model!!

nah, i bet the ibiza ecu is out of a passat too mate. (and the mk3 golf)

but i'll do some more x/reffing later
