No SEAT dealers for miles round here (Bolton) and those that are closest don't get very good reviews.

However I read in Saturdays paper that since October 2003, EU law states that you can have your car serviced anywhere, not neccessarily a main dealer for that brand, and as long as they follow the manufacturers procedures and use stated parts.. the warranty has to be kept valid.

So I was just wondering if the local VW/Audi dealer would be able to service my Leon?
It's not service time yet so I haven't made any enquiries.. just wondered if anyone has gone down this route.
Assuming they're all standard VAG parts.. and the Leon is basically a handsome Golf.. it should be second nature to them.

.............My main dealer is a joke but there is a VW dealership approx 10 minutes away. I mentioned Servicing to the VW Service Manager who stated that They could obviously service the car but their diagnostic gear wouldn't be able to talk to my car.......'54 LCR yeah right :hide:
He went onto mention that taking it away from Main dealership servicing would cause me to miss potential recalls and lose the gratuities to repair stuff SEAT would maybe normally charge for (odd service items/courtasy car/ coil packs?/maf? etc)
He also stated that VW log all involvement with a car on a database and maybe SEAT do this??
IMO having a car serviced at main dealer has no impact(or very little) on the resale value at time of change.
Most discerning buyers will look at the service booklet and as long as the car has a proven healthy history, won't quibble.
VW service for me

Well at the moment, if I can't find an alternative.. it's looking like a trip across the Pennines to Ted Wotsisnames in Barnsley.

Hmm I went to the local Audi main dealers where I live in East London to try to get them to do a 4 wheel alignment check (post accident last year) that the nearest Seat dealer didn't have the equipment to do. Guy said yep we have the equipment no problem and could fit it in immediately.. when I mentioned that it was a Seat he basically told me to f*ck off.. "Can only have audi's in our workshops here"

Now on principle I would never give them any business should I ever want to buy/service an Audi.

Yeah but thats illegal under EU law.

Although if you quoted this, threatening them if they didn't do it... I dread to think what they'd do to your car when they had it.

I Live in Barnsley and Ted Johnsons is my local Seat Dealer we also have Hazeldens a VW/Audi/Skoda ... My sister bought a brand new Arosa last march on an 04 plate and this deveopled a steering fault went in for them to have look at came out same fault so i went with her the 2nd time to complain you know what woman and cars are like.... and it transpired that they did not even look at under the car.... it went it again and it was found to be a faulty steering rack changed under warrenty ..... I have a Leon Cupra and i am seriousrly thinking that after the manufaturrys warrenty has run out taking it to the VW garage for service ... But perhaps i am baise my uncle is Service Forman at the VW dealer so also will get discount.... Also they service VW Audi and Skoda in the same garage and by uncle says no problem on the service book as all the serivce information and work is entered into a computer that is linked to Millton Keyns VW/audi/skoda/Seat UK Head office.... So you pay's your money and takes your choice
