I must apologise.....after the SEAT track day at Castle Combe last year, myself and Cupraman came in here and slagged off the V5 for its slow pickup and lack of grunt. Well, it must have a been either very tight or a duffer as the one I have from Amethyst for the next 3 days is worlds apart.

Nice noise, easy power delivery and suprisingly quick. Oh and lots of toys to play with like the leccy seats/satnav etc. I'm impressed.

Cheers
Andy

thats coz you got the latest all power jobbie my man ;)

by the way i have heard rumours bounded around that a V5 toledo is in fact (on road not paper) faster in a burn off than the 20VT

now theres a way to start a good debate huh ???

Ah at last.... I was involved in this argument originally....;)

Flapp... My old V5 150 was no slouch. Would slaughter Golf Gti Turbos and stayed neck and neck with a Golf V5 170.... I think the only time you'd really notice the difference between the 2 V5's is when absolutely wringing the nuts out of it.

Mind you, mine was an ex SEAT managment car so perhaps it had been fettled... was definatley bloody quick.

just wanted to see if i could stir it up a bit as i reckon the V5 is definately under rated

Toledo V5 is an excellent car, pity there no so popular as the Leon, not a hatch I suppose. Seat shoud do a Leon V5. Fuel economy is probably similar to a 20VT as well.

I must admit I prefer the Toledo to the Leon myself.

I too like the V5. Infact I will probbaly buy one in the next few months. I like its all round ability. It is refined, smoth, well equiped and spacious. It doesn't have the raw thrills of a 20VT but I prefer it as an all rounder.

I don't know why there are so few on the roads.

Funnily enough I've seen different figures to this, off the top of my head the Golf V5 170 made 0-60 in 7.4 seconds...... Obviously the above figures show the Leon is alot stronger mid range......the V5 is happier top end.

Hmmm

I had a Toledo V5 for 3 weeks while my car was in the garage having it's water leak's sorted and boy did it drink fuel, our Leon is deffinatley more economical, I could quite easily own a Toledo if I was going to do load's of Motorway mile's, but the Leon is the car for me at the moment, lot's of power just when you need it :D.
