i noticed today that some of the small "braided" pipes that go around the valves that sit above the coilpacks on the later ibiza 20vt(those ones that people have been removing recently) have started to split.
what size samco do i need to replace them with? am i right in thinking they are vacuume pipes?

Standard vacuum pipes mate, if you have a look under the 'material', its actually rubber hosing there, altho it is quite thin.

I'd imagine 3mm vac hose would do the trick nicely.

Keep that silver heat sleeve from the existing hose though and use it on the new hosing.

surely the samco has a better heat durability so othe silver covering wont be needed though?

Thanks for the info tho bud.

can anyone confirm 3mm tubing is what i need?

I thought it was 4mm id , thats what I replaced my DV vacuum pipe with anyway.

Id imagine the heat durability would be better, but you might as well put it back on just the part near the engine, its just an extra precaution for heat :)

I used some spare Forge DV hose to replace a few of those vac pipes on mine, I cant remember if it was 3 or 4mm, it certainly wont make a massive difference either way, the main thing is that the hosing fits over the connections, tighter & snugger fit, the better.

I think it will be 3mm needed for sure, maybe get a length of each? It shouldnt be too expensive mate.

jimmy, did you use samco vacuum hose? where did you get it from?

I used standard 4mm ID vacuum hosing when I replaced my DV with a Forge 007P ;)

Was thinking about doing the rest of the hoses with it, but didn't have enough left after I had done my Boost Gauge. But for some reason the hose to my boost gause was 'collapsing' on itself..... so I might replace the piece I used for my DV as well...... possible performance problems with it 'collapsing' ?!?

So if you do replace it, make sure that the hose you use has got some 'rigidity' to it, to provent it from 'collapsing' in on itself ! ;)

Samco vacuum hose can withstand 200 degrees C and should not collapse, so should be fine for above the engine. I always get mine from Demon Tweeks too.
