I have just dropped my '97beeza in the garage cos the back left wheel bearing went. Could someone give me a vauge idea on pricing for this job. I only ask cos I have a suspicion that the garage is going to try rip me off cos they are doing some warranty work to that I'm not paying for.

If whoever it is could breakdown the price to parts cost and time i would be most greatful

cheers:cheers:

wheel bearing not covered then ???

genuine kit is £16.00 , and approx 1/2 hour labour i'd say ?

our labour rate is £45+vat per hour

so as e.g

£16.00 parts
£22.50 labour

£38.50 + vat

=£45.23 total

as a rough guide to a genuine dealer price, if non genuine parts/labour be approximayely half that ?? or in between

I have a bad feeling that I will need a new stub on this one :( - any ideas how much it will all cost with the new stub axle thrown in?

cheers for the bits so far mind:confused:

hopefully the stub comes off.

unless it's just plain bolted to the rear beam like it was on an ex's Kia when she bent the stub & therefore beam, hand braking it into a kerb :p

the reason i might need a new stub is if it got welded in the heat of the failed bearing. On taking the cap off there was a hell of a shitty mess in there.

if it's just swarf like - that's all that was left of my bearings (cue moan from garage re: larger than std wheels) but i'd done many miles like it so i would be surprised if i'd welded it.

what temp does steel melt at again? :)

I guess I will just have to wait and see......

They have had my baby for 2 days now and I've heard nothing yet. It went in cos the central locking had stopped cebtrally locking and it was jumping out of first (pain in the arse killin n**as at the lights). The bearing went on the bloody way there.

I'll not be amused if they try to charge me for this

Still got the crap fiesta 1.2 courtesy car - ever seen a fiesta rallying? Have now!!!

A lot;) I doubt very much the bearing would have welded itself to the stub axle unless its some kinda freak ocourance, should bash off easily enuff with a bit of persuasion

the stub is (NON ABS) approx £93.00 inc vat :(

if it helps they are not handed and be worth a look for a second hand one ???

still would have thought it was a warranty job ?

it is being done under warranty.
They told me yesterday that the job was done - so I went 50miles there in the deathbox fiesta they gave me. When I get there pick up the keys, get in the car. Before I've even left the forecourt it jumps out of first again. NOT HAPPY WITH NORMAN MOTORS OF BOURNEMOUTH!!!!!!!

So back it goes and I go all the way home again in the car that gives me a headache. He even had the gaul to have a go at my driving!?! But the jumping out happens when you back off not when as he put it "you drive it too hard". If you put ur foot down in first it stays there.

Anyone else had any dealings with Norman Motors? - they clain to be seat specialists and the car only went there cos its where I bought it from.
