View Full Version : Castrol GTX Magnatex ..... any good??
Has anyone tried Castrol GTX Magnatec for an oil change? Or can anyone recommend any other brands/types? My Ibiza Cupra has done just over 5k miles and as it does short distances every day I want to change the oil as a precaution ......... any suggestions?

very good oil for performance engines, therefore i would highly recommend.
if you want though go for the Mobil 1 oil, that is high performance synthetic at its best.

When u get a service a seat dealer what oil do they put in??

Depends on the dealer I think. As far as I'm aware my dealer (Amethyst) uses GTX Magnatec.

I'd have though that WRC cars with 'REPSOL' plastered all over them would give a clue...mind you VAG standard seems to now be Quantum.
Re: Magnatec...I have heard that in certain instances can cause damage....Mobil 1 is meant for high reving engines and Castrol R for racing...ahhhh...the smell of Castrol R....
Halfords Semi/Fully-Synthetic is as good as anything else for non-racing.

we use gtx magnatex , as for repsol its plastered all over spains petrol stations too , its true QUANTUM is the current VAG oil , is available as SYNTEC a semi synthetic AND SYNTEC GOLD which is not only FULLY synthetic but pricey tooo
not many dealers keep the gold cos of price and the fact it comes in 4 x 5L cases .
try the local VAG/AUDI dealer if ya stuck for some or pop in ,with all the cupra's we do i keep some in for requests and the local NITRO BOYS
ps SYNTRA GOLD comes HIGHLY reccomended for NITRO'd alfa romeo engines
