Can anyone tell me if they have a hump under the lower shelf in the boot of their altea? Test drove one with 17" alloys at local dealers and it had a large hump in the boot which took up nearly all of the space uder the false floor thingy.

When i asked the salesman, he told me thats for the extra space for the 17" spare. I said i thought a full size spare was an option (per the website) so you would only get the hump (so to speak) if you specified a full size spare.

His reply was that you always get the hump with the 17" option!!

Please can someone help with any info on this matter.

The lower floor in my boot is flat. I do not have a spare wheel just the inflation kit.

Thanks, I know I should always take dealer advice with a pinch of salt. And you've just confirmed it.

New 2.0TDI Sport on order then very soon, with 17" alloys.

Cheers

That's what I've recently got. You'll love it!

I did indeed order the spare wheel so I got a hump off where the spare is under the floor and there is still enough space all the way around it to stash my cardboard box of stuff that I use to carry around in the boot of my old car, releasing more floor area for holiday bags etc.

I reckon it's good to have a spare. Last year a front tire got a big bulge in it, in Luxembourg, it was a Sunday so nothing was open [ie. there version of Kwickfit etc] and there is no way you can drive that with solvent filler stuff in it. I had my spare fitted and drove back to London on it...
