hiya lds, ive got a ibiza 1.8 20vt, its been chipped by amd and is running 203.5 bhp and 240 something torque! just wondered if any of u could recomend where i can go to have a bigger turbo etc fitted and how much it would cost? the thing is my car has off days and seems to miss a beat, and goes like a 1.1 fiesta, ive contacted amd and they say its nowt 2 do with the chip, they blamed it on OPTIMAX! thats y i dont really want to go back there!

p.s just fitted 18"s to me car, they look v.nice, and they dont even rub!

hiya again lads, ill try and take sum photos on the weekend! AMD chipped my car, hopefully u can give me sum help on where i can get sum good horse power from! the wheels are bk 299's by the way with 215 35 18's

The "off" days do they just have odd low power moments or just generally down on power for longer periods?
There are a number of standard glitches on the factory car like 5psi moments that I get myself. It feels a whole lot worse on chipped cars as the difference in boost levels is high and the power loss great.
Generally these are factory gremlins and AmD's response as to it not being chip related is probably right. As for it being Optimax - Well... Thats a credibility gap for AmD.. Optimax runs well on my 20VT and I would'nt run on anything else given the choice.
Larger turbo mods are probably down to 2 main suppliers now, if you want a truely larger turbo.
Jabbasport are doing IHI turbo installations with phenomenal power possibilities. - eg Their Golf IV runs 380bhp from the stock engine! (http://www.jabbasport.com)
APR do a Stage 3 kit but this is not planned for an Ibiza, limited to Golf/Leon fitment I believe. (APR have a good website which is worth browsing - or call them and ask. They are very friendly and helpful guys) - http://www.apreurope.com/
As a lower spec upgrade though, a K04 might be worth entertaining if you wanted to get another 30-40bhp from it? It is still a small turbo though, breathing through a small manifold.
Both the Jabbasport and APR upgrades run different brand turbos and manifolds etc. Without a larger manifold, ultimate power is likely to be limited.

cheers bill, ur help is much appriciated! they didnt actually say that it woz the optimax, but indicated that it could either be something to do with fuel or weather! the funny thing woz, that whilst attending a bit of a car cruise at cheltenham last sunday night, i filled up with optimax, it woz then that the problem occured, just coincidence really i suppose! once again many thanks

I had a power problem the day of the Cheltenham RR session with Optimax. I think I was unlucky as I've used it since from other stations and been OK. I generally stick with 95RON, still gave 211BHP/297Nm with my chip.

Jabbasport chip,Forge DV 007P, otherwise standard
Don't get confused with Nm and lbs/ft with torque. 297Nm equals around 220lbs/ft I think.
N/m to lb/ft conversion is 0.738
lb/ft to N/m is 1.356
(multiplying)

Ross, I had exactly the same Alloys and 18's on my Mk3 Golf and they look the nuts, have only gone for 17's on my beeza 20vt though!
I am going to Jabbasport in June for the ECU Remap!
Post the piccies soon I wanna see the 18's, glad somebody else appreciates the big wheels!
