View Full Version : Motorpoint dealer ??
Hi
Does anyone have experience of Motorpoint.co.uk or motorpoint.
I'm looking for a Black Leon cupra which the can get with Leather etc for around £13500 as its an import. They were on the telly (Chan5 car proggy) and Quentin was saying that these places are the cheapest .
Thinks its only a 2 yr warranty which by the looke of things I might have to register it with SEAT UK ??
Any help on this dealer appreciated

Hopefully v.soon a Black Cupra 20VT
They're slightly more expensive (by couple of hundred quid maybe) than DIY import, but you don't have to wait 3-4months for delivery.
Registering with SEAT UK is quite easy (but your local dealer may charge you ~ £30 for the privelidge....small change in the scheme of things.
Only real downsides are:-
Poor service....ie they don't suck up your *rse and car doesn't come all valetted (even if you pay valet fee....). At the end of the day - does it matter?
You are 2nd owner ('cos they have to register it 1st). Not a big issue unless you're getting rid of the car relatively quickly.
Try Trade Sales too.
thanks for the reply mik do you know if can can haggle or is the pice usually fixed in stone from motorpoint??

Motorpoint seem to be the garage that the TV programmes use when looking at bargain cars. I'm sure Top Gear have featured them and Right Car Wrong Car a few weeks ago. From what I've seen the prices are fairly rigid but I'm sure they must have a couple of hundred worth of movement, I think it depends on the car and how easily they can sell it. One other thing to note is these places tend to be a bit crap if you have a car to part exchange so if this is the case you are better off selling privately and then going as a cash buyer. I've not had anyu experience of them personally but I live in Southampton and someone living down the road from my girlfriend has a car bought from them and seeing as Motorpoint have places in Derby and Burnley I guess they must have got a good deal to bother travelling all that way.
My parents bought a Renault Scenic from Motorpoint (Derby) in March of last year. The price was not up for negotiation. However, this was not much of an issue as Motorpoint beat the best UK Renault dealer price by over £3500.
I also bought my Leon from them because the price was right and the car was in stock (I hate waiting - previous Renault took 4 months). Unlike my parents I did have a car to part exchange. Motorpoint's first offer was bang on What Car? magazine's trade price. Eventually settled for £300 more (I did swap air con for a good old fashoined sunroof on my old car so the deal was about right). The Leon also had a Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser fitted before collection which saved me some hassle. (Try getting reasonable insurance with a Sheffield postcode without one - even for just a couple of days!).
The pre-delivery valet (extra cost) was nothing special but acceptable. However, the Scenic was immaculate. I think these are carried out by a national valet company and the quality depends on which mobile agent is in town when they do your car.
Would I buy another car from Motorpoint? Yes. (A Yorkshireman never pays more than he needs to.)
just spotted this thread again!
Yeah ~ as I understand it price is 100% NON-negotionable.
