Hi All,
I've had this fitted to my car for just over a month or so, and only the other night I noticed that it does makea whooshy type noise.
Not overly loud, and I've not had a change to hear it from outside the car yet, but with the stereo turned down, it's clearly audible.
This make me happy :) I wanted a big f@ck off loud one, but didn't want to lose any power, so to have any kind of psssh at all is a bit of a bonus.
It works best in 2nd or 3rd gear. Turn stereo and heaters off, and at about 2000rpm, accellerate a nice amount, and then back off the throttle completely - Psssh!
Sorry if you all knew this already. I'm just a little excited because I thought I was gonna be Whoosh free!! :p

Fit an induction kit like the Hurricane one and you get it louder :D
hehehe.
Bill:cheers:
That's cool then
so is it a really stiff spring or something?
I'm guessing as it's effectivly a light pressure turbo (a la SAAB & Volvo - no offence) you're not going to get a huge noisey pressure release?
Be interesting to see a back to back RR or VAG-Com reading

Hi Bill,
This kit doesn't have any negative side-effects related does it? I don't want to start getting problems after fitting it (MAF).
I think I read the thread you posted on this kit.
Is it expensive?

Mark,
Going to StarPerformance next Sunday for RR session. Will speak to Jim and see if he'll be kind enough to run it with both DV's on it... Perhaps even just compare with Crofters Cupra-R which still has the original DV on it.

Steve,
I can see this discovery costing me a lot in petrol :D

Eyco,
I've not really tried it in the higher gears as the engine/road/exhaust noise drown it out a bit, but I'll keep experimenting.

The Hurricane will be MAF safe and costs £150 plus shipping.
There is a post with its gains over stock as logged by VAG-COM direct from the ECU.
post on Hurricane is here>>http://www.seatcars.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=4444

So what's the score with Std DVs on 2002 model Leon Cupras? I thought the general feeling was get rid ASAP, but I'm sure I read not so long ago in here, the 2002 model's regarded as having a decent DV now and some tuners say it's better than a Forge.
Am I just having vivid dreams again??? Some advice please if anyone has the time.
Cheers

I got a 2002 Ibiza Cupra, but the DV is definitely the next thing i'm replacing. When holding back throttle then re-applying, i get 0.5-1.5 seconds lag/hesitation until boost arrives back again. Maybe my expectations are too high for my engine with just 2.5k miles in it, but i'm not about to wait for the DV to get better (if it will do at all).

Standard DV is ok on a standard car, chipped cars can split the diaphram so a piston type one is stronger.....in theory
However bosch seem to have finally sorted out the splitting problems(they used to split even on standard cars)
I haven't changed a Audi dv for about 6 months
