Sorry if this has been discussed before - i'm still new here.

Has anyone managed to get a Dawes Device installed on their Leon Cupra yet? I think it should be possible as it can be used on turbo engines.

If so what results did you get, is it same result as a scoob?

I don't know but I am getting one sent to me to try.
I'll post results when I get it.

No i dont sell them or have anything to do with them, easier if you see their description of what it does at :

So is this right...

Its a 'waste gate' in line with the actual waste gate?

Think so - it allows the boost pressure to be maintained without touching the wastegate directly. Allows faster acceleration and adds a few bhp to boot, mainly more torque though. Just dont know if anyone has done this to Leon yet.

could be wrong, but it looks very similar to the power boost valve only for turbo engines.
(obviously not not the same theory but similar build..)

Interesting, the guy on the website claims to be using it on a 1.8T Jetta. He is also saying that you can increase the boost with this device. I know a bleed valve does not work with our ECU but this is different.... Though in saying that won't the ECU detect the increased boost pressure and return a fault code and put itself into limp mode ? Any official standpoint from the UK tuners in this $35 device ?
IBIZACUPRA , how are you going to set this up, i.e. with standard boost pressure ? When you going to do your tests on it ? Can't wait to see the results.

I won't be able to test on standard boost pressure more than likely as mine is chipped at the moment.
Not sure how I will set it up. Being sent one to try from another source. If it works OK I'll see what they can be supplied for. (cheaper than Dawes though for sure)

Has anyone found out more on this device yet? seems too cheap to be a real performance improvement.

What do you think they reliability would be like if this keeps boost pressure higher for longer?

Now there is a UK distributor ....

Got this email back from the UK supplier ...

*********************************************
Thank you for your interest in JW Racing.

We are Europe's Sole Distributor for Dawes and have sold hundreds over the past few months!

They are priced at £35.50 or £70.70 for the Race Version and work very well on all Turbo charged cars. I know that you will be amazed by the performance gains when you fit one! There is no comparable mod with as high a performance per pound ratio!

They should be fitted with a boost gauge, our most popular being £113.98, with a pod ranging from £17.99 - £65.

They are available all the time with deliveries going out daily.

Please let me know if you would like any more help or information and please take a look under the Dawes Section on our site. I have also included a write up of the Dawes on a VAG 1.8T for your perusal. Please let me know if I can be of help.
*************************************************

See the attached document for instruction for the 1.8T

Let us know how you get on with it as it sounds a cheap way of increasing boost (as long as you dont go silly!!)

sounds like it, but what about fueling ? does the ECU compensate for the higher boost pressure ? I contacted a reputable tuner and got a thumbs down... but am still hopefull. I still believe we are being taken for a ride with the whole "tuning this engine" lark. Remember back to 1986 and how much of a pantomime it was to make a cosworth faster ?

Electronics gurus out there.....what about some zenner diodes on the boost pressure measurement sensors which will stop them reading over 9PSI....anybody know how do do this ? Fueling....then surely just a case of a rising rate regulator to manage the fueling. Might be a bit crude but it works for MR2's
