Hi ive got a quickshift metal guaze filter with a neuspeed heatshield on my LCR. im worried about the kit letting two much cr4p through. Now ive read about 14 threads so far saying that paper filters and performace dont make much difference and visa versa in others!
I havent got a sealed pipe going to cold air on my induction kit just one that goes to the front and its very close to the filter mouth.
So i either need to atach a cold air feed and stick with it or go back to my airbox and a performace filter?

stainless gause filter wont be catching dust.. which is a bad thing IMHO.
ducted cold air feed and free flow filter, minimal bends, large enough diameter pipework will work well also...

The ducting (flexi cloth type) is a greeny/brown colour.. not very bling.
Supplied by Green in 1mtr lengths, £15/length

as safe as anything can be on a sensor which fails a lot yea..
you wont get oil coming out of them as supplied.
the dbm thread has a picture of the same hose as I supply (supplied)

i'm guessing no but they do, do it in greeny/brown as per the text and colour photo above :roflmao: :hide:
Sorry couldn't resist :D  :hide:
if you want a different colour, ring demon tweeks, they sell the same stuff in various colours, but way more than bills charging .
i have gone back to panel filter and cold air feed.

and what were your findings? any regrets? lack of noise performance?
ive got a blue one but it doesnt match anything!
the panel filter is quieter which i like, doesn't seem to be any loss or gain in performance, though i was comparing this with a hurricane induction kit off of an ibiza, ehich was good for "around " 200 bhp, mine has 221.9 and lost power at the top end,not dyno'd with just the panel filter and cold air feed

That's cus what they sell is the dual layer brake duct thingy like samco sell which is real expensive.. :(
they also sell yellow gaffer tape :)
I've got some bling silver duck tape too. Wrap some silver and yellow tape round the brown tube and blingtastic :)

hmm yellow duct tape?!
How bad does it look?
Very bad. Don't do it.
The cloth pipe from Bill has the lighter coloured string running round the outside - that's yellowish.

Keep the induction kit, especially if your fitting a cold air feed as it should perform better.

just need to find away to seal the end then

I wouldnt have thought it need to be a tight seal, if your connecting 2 pipes together just make sure the first (from grill) goes inside the second so the air continues to flow to the filter - seal together with some tape just to make sure.

no its the front of the filter housing as shown in one of my photos

I had (Still have somewhere) a Blitz metal gauze induction kit which is pretty similar. As mentioned it doesn't stop dust so i took it off.
Also, to be honest there was zero noticable difference between the induction kit and the standard airbox (Except noise), so I went back to the standard airbox. You may notice a difference for higher bhp cars though (Like mine now).

i like the noise tho!
Well if you want the noise, see if a green cone will fit, look for "aluminium stockholders" in yell and get a piece of tube the right diameter to push in the end of your quickshift, then hopefully push the 80mm tube on or in the end of the tube. Oh and make some kind of bracket to hold the quickshift steady before your MAF dies.
OR
Go buy a Dynatwist.

I have neuspeed heatshield to hold it all up.
I did by a samco step to poke in the front but its too small!
Also the end of the filter is solid so not the best for air flow.
The screw driver is coming out 2nite with photos!
