Just popped in there for my 10K service.

Just oil & filter, but £56 ~ half the amount that various Arnold Laugh-a-lot dealers wanted.

Not the plushest dealer (so what?), but friendly & efficient.....despite the fact that my car is a euro-import.

More than I can say for Arnold-Clark @ Sighthill...... :(

And only a couple of miles off the M8 too....ideal.....I'll be returning there.

I was thinking about taking mine out there for servicing anyway, and now glad to hear a good report about them. My 10k service will be during the next month or so...

So how long did they take to do the service? (I'd want to wait on it)
To save me looking up their number - could you post it here Mik?

I'm not even slightly interested in taking mine back to Arnold Clark (Clydebank) for anything other than warranty issues... very unfriendly, unhelpful, and incompetent too probably.....
I noticed a very similar trend with Arnold Clark VW on Crow Road too....

My mum also got her Megane from AC, and she ended up practically having a square go with Arnold himself!! Says a lot for that organisation (which if you ask me - is a contradiction in terms!!)

Cheers Mik.

I know exactly where they are anyway.
Easiest way from M8 is off at the Showcase Cinema, then it's a straight road from there straight down by where the old Caterpillar Machine plant used to be...

I'll give them a call later on ;)

Thanx Again...

Never ask me for directions - cos all you'll get is landmarks and stuff to go on!! :p

What kinda area of Glasgow are you in Mik? I saw your car in the gallery on here, and have been trying to keep an eye out for you...

My car came from them, and I've always found them helpful. I would have no trouble giving them a recommendation.

(From what I hear your problems with AC aren't uncommon)

Dragging this up again to save a new thread.

Had the Ibiza in for its 20k service this morning. Took just a little over 2 hours including some other 'features' the car's developed during the cold weather. Been dealing with them for a little over a year now since I got the car. Highly recommended to anyone in the Glasgow area. Top service

Again Highly recommmended. Can't fault them. The difference between them and AC is that they treat you as they would like to be treated themselves. Good family business.

I noticed when I was in last week, the atmosphere in the place is so much better than an AC branch. Everytime someone answered the phone they were very polite and helpful to whoever was on the other end and they will go out of their way to help you. :)

I got my Ibiza serviced with them a couple of times, not taken the LCR through yet though. Due to not being able to wait while my service was done, have always asked for a courtesy car - never a problem, didn't have to book it three months in advance (unlike Arnold Clarke) and a great service too. So would highly recommend them!

Got my 30k mile service done this morning and the customer service was first class. Didn't have to book a week in advance (2 days was all it took), was able to wait on the car being done and got a cup of tea into the bargain. :D

Plus it was a very reasonable price compared to some large garage chains who I have experienced in the past. £18 to change the brake fluid as opposed to £55 at a certain dealership owned by a Sir.

Going for my 1st service there today - feel at ease from all the comments on this forum...

Got back from my service - £104. They also fixed my rear washer wiper as well as spotting a split in my air con pipe - which will be fixed under warranty. Great service and a free cup of coffee.

Big shout for Livingstones.First used them when i had my Ibiza 20vt.Now using them for my Toledo and have always received first class curteous service.
Miles better than any other dealer i've experienced, especially Arnolds.
The best bit is they are right at the end of my street too.:D

I'll look out for you cupraR.I have blue Toledo sport,(not many about)and a mk2 Golf G60,which i'm just about to get back after having a full repray:)
Having just given a big thumbs up for Livingstones they just offered me a derisory trade-in price on the Toledo against the platinum grey Leon Cupra they have on their forecourt just now:( .Ho hum still top service though.I'll be keeping the Toledo a little longer now.

they done the same with me when i traded in my fiesta Zetec s. Would'nt budge on price for LCR either. I dont think the sales guys in there are on commision so they in no hurry to strike a deal with you unless your pay what their asking.

But i agree excellent service.

You may well be right, been there for a while as well, does'nt seem to have a high turnover of staff like most sales jobs.I would assume they are good to work for too.
However it was just an impulse enquiry when i saw the Leon.I'll keep the Toledo for a while yet and go for a private sale when i'm ready to change. Gives you a much better buying position as well with no trade-in.

I've just bought my new car from them and they've been brilliant. :) Even had a call earlier this evening asking how I was getting on with the car. Something I've never had with my previous 3 cars! Fantastic people to deal with.

Who did you deal with? David Brown by chance?

Who did you buy your last car from to compare differences.

IainW

Yeah it was David. Bought my previous car from Arnold Clark, so anything's going to be better than that!

WL Ltd had washed and valeted the car before I picked it up, fitted the locking wheelnuts, left me with more than a teaspoonful of fuel in it, fixed a problem with a fuse for the electric mirrors which I found when I was getting ready to drive away, let me have a test drive in a diesel Ibiza to see what I was buying and got a cup of coffee out of them!

Compare that to Arnold Clark who gave me a dusty unwashed car, didn't have any locking nuts fitted at all, left me with enough fuel to go to the garage along the road and fill up, probably would have asked for an appointment to fix a fuse when I was there, didn't offer me a test drive and didn't give me a coffee.

You really get the impression that Livingstones want to keep your custom and they'll go out of their way to help you, whereas AC's main aim is to shift x number of cars a day and they don't care if you come back with problems, because they'll be getting more money out of you, to make up for the bargain price you paid for your car.

David Brown is a nice guy.
My family and I have bought 4 cars from them in the last three years and with only a blip or two the service has been great. They do try and keep everybody happy. Just avoid AC as just about everybody agrees. Lots of fools go there though with the prices clouding their judgement. I had a terrible time when i bought a peugeot from Hamilton Rd a number of years back.

I bought my last car from the Rover (now Vauxhall) AC garage in Hamilton Road. Thought I was getting a bargain, but infact AC has bought about half the production run of the 2.0 Sport Ibiza, so the resale values are much lower than you would expect, because he's flooded the market with them. Infact he's still trying to get rid of them right now. Partly the reason why I decided to change my car before the value got any worse.

The servicing at Livingstones is completely different from what I've experienced before. I phoned up and was given an appointment for two days later and even had a choice of appointment times. Not like AC when you get an appointment for the next week and are told to leave it there at 8am and then they will call you when it's ready, which turns out to 5pm.

Had five new cars from them now over the years and wouldn't go anywhere else.

The service has been second to none.

David Brown is a super chap on the sales side. Sandy Cochrane is the service manager who again works wonders along with Alan on the mechanics side.

We've always found they will go just that extra little bit to make everything work.

All the staff are really, really friendly.

I don't think that they do. Usually all their cars can be found on the Seat Website when you do a Used Car Search.
