Decided to go for a set of 17's just toying with which rubber to wrap them in.

195 45 17
205 40 17

I know the 195 will go on easier but will the extra profile come back to haunt me!

If any one has any experience or knowledge on the subject i would be very appreciative.

Won't they end up being too big?

What size were the factory rims/tyres?

This sounds like one for GZA (Colin) to answer as he's about the only person that ive heard of thats been crazy enough to put 17s on an arosa.

The brains behind this is hear to answer your questions.

Firstly I would say dont bother its not worth the hassel. Stick to 16's it is so much easier.

If you are determined to have 17's then be prepared for the wheels to keep coming off for the continuous modding of the arches and bulkhead as you wont get it right first time. They need a lot of cutting and banging to be able to put them in there. Ask BBSparky he saw me with a hammer battering the arches one morning.

You will have to firstly remove the plastic inner wing and then line the inner arch with wax for protection. Slap the wheel back on then get ready for the on going trip back to the bodyshop to get them cut once you know where they are rubbing too. Then slap them back on and go back in a few weeks later. Be prepared to do this quite a few times. My wheels have been on since November and I am still having alterations made to the arches.

Anyway with regards to the tyres I'm running on 205/40/ZR17 you need the 40 profile to help stop the rubbing. I wouldnt mind getting a 35 profile but you just cant get them with a 205 width.

Hope this all helps

Colin(GZA)

P.S What wheels have you gone for?

P.P.S Gray i'm not crazy i'm just STUPID:p

I WAS going with momo twins, but having listened to you and offerd up a borrowed 17 on the car the 16`s look, well comfortable.

Mind you though the car didn't look bad with one of my mates 19inch jag rims next to it movement may be a problem.

What rims are you running now GZA?

Cahnged my mind on the wheels going to invest my pennies on some more stereo so i have got a 12" JL Audio W3 and a 4x75W
Phoenix Gold Qx series amp up for sale. The JL box Fits nicely in the boot of the arosa.

You can get them, one manufacturer makes them (would hate to see the cost)

However, surely they are so thin that alloy protection would be minimal at best! I hope you've got decent alloys, or one speedbump and you'll have square wheels :)

I will look up the makers of those 205/35/17's tonight
