I would think 170 would be easy mate - probably more like 180-190 (perhaps close to 200) as they are 140 as standard and knowing most VAG engines its putting out more like 150. The PD130's usually get about 180ish so i would reckon on getting more out of the 2.0 TBH
Oettinger (not that it'll be the biggest figures) can do 170bhp/280lbft
www.oettinger.com - then pretend you have a mk5 golf
Sounds cool. Taking into account Altea weight of course, similar to Leon FR power, I could live with that. :) ;)

LOL. Might defeat the whole point of me getting a car that is cheaper to run and with lower insurance!

i saw one today, in red - and i admit, the rear end still looks a little cronky, but from the rear forward it has really grown on me...
even to a point where the LCR might get replaced

Scott - Upsolute Altea (http://www.upsolute.com/db/new/datenblatt_eng.php?ID_Marke=20&ID=1125)
Under £300. Bit more if you want it OBD flashed.
I've been very pleased with my Upsolute map on the Leon ~ they're good with the VAG TDI lumps.

Anyone know where the OBD connector is on the Altea which they use to flash the ecu?

I have to agree, although i don't mind the back either now. Hated it at 1st but now quite like it - the more i see the better it looks, especially in Platinum
Syphon,
Here is a link to a dutch site of a guy who has got a JD Chip on his Altea. The JD Chip should be similair to a Jabbasport chip as they work together on certain things.

Problem with a DSG is that it can't be remapped beyond about 260 lb/ft of torque because the DSG can't handle any more. If you try to get more the gearbox software will shutdown or gearbox will fail totally.

Where did you get this info from?
Do you know where the diagnostic connector is?
I'd probably wait til someone can flash via the OBD.AFAIK it's not been done yet. You should easily get 200hp from the 2L.

Afaik the 2.0 Liter can be flashed by OBD.
The DSG has a seperate computer which controls the clutches and the clutches are rated just above 260 lb/ft. In germany there are company's who took a while to crack the codes of the DSG computer and they were warned by VW that the tolerance on the DSG is not much above the 260 lb/ft. Go over that and then you are asking for trouble.

Revo are working on the DSG box too IIRC, read a post from RevoKev somewhere but can't find it....

This is how most tuners remap a 2.0tdi with EDC16 ecu
http://www.evc.de/en/product/ols/bdm/default.asp
Still means opening up the ecu and destroying the sealant. I would echo PRC and wait for OBD. I would be very surprised if Upsolute were first to do this?

I want to have my DSG done and I was going to use DMS Automotive to do a remap. They quote 180 Bhp and 385 Nm of torque. Not so sure I want to do it now, not until someone does a specialised map for the DSG equipped cars.
All of this talk on here reminds me of pirate satellite cards, BDM interfaces and EPROM wipes etc.... well I did get my German D-Box reprogrammed in Rotterdam [a German pay TV digital box to make it a Dutch all regions box] but I think I'm going to hold on the Altea;).

You could go to EVC and get your DSG EEPROM BDM'd, failing that go to APR for an EMCS chip or their DPP, or Revo for an SPP with additional SPS. After that you will need the EDC16 sorting out by SKN. Oh and dont forget the K&N.

 All these abbreviations ! I have to admit I'm not an expert in this area, I've only quoted what I've picked up from others. I had my last car fitted with a tuning box and that seemed relatively straightforward, but the game has moved on a bit and our cars are a lot more complex than my old Multipla.
I'm sure ,in time, that I'll pick all this up ..... or perhaps I'lll end up with sattelite tv playing in my car!!
@loadswine: Give thes guy's a ring: http://www.scottsmototune.co.uk/ they sell SKN chips and SKN are very highly rated in germany.
There was a splitup at SKN a while back, so I'm not sure they're as good as they used to be.
Paulo,
From what i have heard SKN are just as good as before. But they are expanding big time in germany. I think you mean Wetterauer and not SKN. They split big time and the top programmers left and started for themselves.

Looks like the DSG gearbox has a sensible torque limit for sensible ECU upgrades. It does not throw a mental like the old tiptronics used to when the ECU of a PD or V6TDI is upgraded. I looked at a Toledo 140tdi with DSG today, very well equipped car and drove great for a ugly bug bus, still cant get round the looks of this thing tho?!?!?!?
SKN are going strong and put everything through Scotts in the UK, very expensive and never proven to be better than the rest so why pay more? It was WET that had problems a couple of years ago. From what I can remember it was the European side of the business shut down, apparently the USA side remained but you never hear anything of them now?

Us Altea owners would only think that the rear end of a Toledo was ugly, the rest being rather sexy :)

I like the Altea, I nearly got mrs W in to one of these but it was just a bit too small for the kids and all the mess they like to leave in the car. Sorry but the Toledo rear totally ruins a good looking car for me.
There you go, thats that hole dug out of
Sorry I always argue with moderators where every I post:) - LOL - didn't see.

We at Forge now have Diesel software available. As far as I know we are the first in UK to OBD tune Altea (also MKV, A3, Touareg). I won't abuse the forum and go in to a full blown sales pitch but if anyone is interested then call Forge to speak to Russell or myself.

Well I did and that was done by VW importer here in Holland, they gave me almost 180 bhp and 420Nm of torque back. The first time at the traffic light and you put your foot down, you'll be scared to death, the traction control can't keep up and the light keeps flashing until you lift your foot back up. And look on the faces of Merc and Bimmer drivers when you put your foot down at 80 mph and they see you dissapear in the distance. The costs in Holland are 825 euros. A very big recomender. Worth every nickel and dime
