Hi

Have been doing lots of digging around with clutches and flywheels recently and thought the following info may be useful to folk:

020 'rod change' gearbox
210mm clutch
Std flywheel 5.68kg, lightened 3.86kg
Clutch cover, std LUK and Helix gpN, 3.5kg
Clutch plate, 4puck sprung center gpN, 1.198kg
Flywheel to clutch cover bolts (x8) 108g
TOTAL std 10.486kg, light 8.666kg

02A 'cable change' gearbox
228mm clutch
G60 flywheel std 9.450kg, light 4.886kg
VR6 flywheel std 7.613kg, light 4.772kg
Clutch cover 4.750kg
Clutch plate, organic sprung 1.418kg
Cover to flywheel bolts unknown, assume similar to 020 108g
TOTAL G60std 15.726kg, light 11.162kg
TOTAL VR6std 13.889kg, light 11.048kg

Unknown if Ibiza's and cordys have VR6-type or G60-type

Autotech billet steel 02A without ring gear = 4.5kg
Eurosport Ali VR6 flywheel without ring gear = 3.4kg
Helix Ali VR6 with ring gear = 4.5kg (£296 + vat)
1.8T flywheel, 200mm, 9.1kg

Just fitted a race clutch to my car, 02A type, custom steel billet flywheel and Tilton / custom cover and plate - cover and plate are 180mm dia and plate is 4 puck unsprung

Flywheel with ring gear = 5.5kg
Clutch cover + tension plates (cover equivalent to above) = 1.918kg
Plate = 0.750kg
Bolts cover to flywheel = 122g
TOTAL 8.290kg

Almost 3kg saving over lightened 02A setups and as far as momentum is concerned, a very useful reduced diamater. A bit lighter than 020 also

Cheers

Hi

Helix Ali VR6 with ring gear = 4.5kg (£296 + vat)

Rob

Allways wondered what mine weighed. I remember it was bloomin expensive. I think the £296+vat is trade though.

Like I'll be able to hear it............

Couldn't give a stuff, so long as it shifts well.

The pickle is getting full on race car development now, no holds barred.

Nice saving. Especially for a valver where you need to keep dem' revs a comin'.

Ah, the lumpy idle.....takes me back to my marshalling days...5,4,3,2,1...GO!
