I have a sneaky suspicion you might lose a little bit of boost through a hole like that... :-o
Bad choice of words sorry. As in do you know what pierced it?
yeah
erm here goes
just in front of the battery wear the body work meets the OE right hand side IC cooler

wonder if it was there when i went to jabba???
That'll be it then!
I bet you're glad you've found it?
I think I'd be more worried about what came off to cause it....
damn those phones are violent :p

surprised there wasnt some huge whistling noise with that hole!

very

I think it's rubbed on something to cause that? Across the front of the battery you say? Battery clamping bolt? OE pipe is bolted to the car just around there to stop it moving, maybe that's why. Hope A&M are going to put it right for you [B)]

Looks like somebody shot at you with an air rifle :bleh: Been off worrying sheep again have we....
oh well im gonna put it all back together now
Have you got any spare samco to clamp over it? Your old TIP or something you can cut up?
Some kind of patch you can clamp over it while you've got it off?
Shove an old sock in there?

Chewing gum perhaps?
That stuff seems to be everywhere and stick to everything...
bit of duck tape would probably suffice for a while I imagine
Just come back on to suggest the same...
ill cut up some of the OE pipe work
anyone with a tig welder ? and an ali rod

so it rubbed? is that what you're saying?
need to check all ya pipes for rubbing then... and they're only small pipes too!
EAK!
ok been out peak psi 22.1
ending at 16.9 at 6280rpm
peak torque @vagcom291lbsft
peak bhp 270 something
also had a warnig off plod

hey! what do ya mean little!(getting changed in a cppl of weeks hopefully) the area it was rubing was not where I first said it was actually the battery clamp which punched through the ali- due to engine movement I expect. AS I recall we fitted the pipe with the batery out :hide: .
all ali checked and
I intend to use the samco upper intercooler hoses to avoid this problem next time- goes infrnt of the battey then i believe(below clamp as opposed to above).
could anyone confirm the diameter of the samco upper hosses
damn those phones are violent :p
actually I found the phone in the Inter cooler apparently I had sucked the phone and its user in- sadly i was unable to get the owner out
...the samco upper intercooler hoses to...
The samco intercooler hose specific to the LCR/TT/S3 you mean? It doesn't go that far - it stops short to mate to the OE pipe. I think they're smaller than 2.5"
On your first pic, theres a black section of hose - this is the only pivot point, when the engine moves that whole length of pipe moves, so no wonder it hit the battery bolt, really.
If it were me I'd look at getting a bracket/clamp fitted on the pipework to bolt it to the OE position, and adding a section of hose closer to the throttle body to give some movement.

thats no pivot point its all ali. that was protection to stop the ali rubbing
I'd still say the same.

I've always been concerned about the lengths of alu that are used compared to the lengths of samco... Ibiza kits have been fine though, but I think they use more samco in places... and probably shorter pipe runs as well...
All trial and development at the end of the day!! Not uncommon to find problems with the first few development models, afterall, that's what they are ;) (like me and the mk1 exhaust that was a tad loud in the end :hide: and Mike's mk1 exhaust that was constantly banging against the rear axel, and didn't have a silencer  )
Mat that must have been whistling like a b'stard, steve/ruddmiester had a leak @ jbs dyno day, the noise it made was unreal and that was just the dv iirc, james @ jbs, spotted prob in a flash :D
