MK 4 Ibiza Oil Light

Just read the manual for the first time since I purchased my second hand TDI. Since I've had it the oil pressure /level light briefly comes on red at ignition for a matter of seconds - Should this be right? The manual states that " The warning lamp lights up for a few seconds as a functioanl check. If the warning lamp is red or yellow or flashes it indicates that the engine oil pressure or level is two low" Am I confusing myself, or is this manual wrong? What colour should it light up then if everthing is OK?

Start up the car, the red oil light maybe lit for a few secs until engine oil pressure is up.

Then when running no lights should be illuminated.

If the yellow comes up it means you oil is low.

Yeh thanks for that Ross - just as you said. I'll have to stop reading the manual. Why do we techies always look to deep!!
