Dear anyone wondering.
I have fitted my Jettas 7.5" x 16" wheels onto my Ibiza this afternoon.
They do fit. (I thought they would)
They don't hit anything, even on full lock.
They have improved the handling already. Despite having the wide rims with the 205-45-16 tyres on, the rears still look lost in the arches... ! amazing! Spacers going on shortly to get the track wider.

Some piccies for you to look over on my website if interested.

Hi Bill,

Nice to meet you yesterday...

Cool, the 7.5s fit. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

I might have to buy some now.

Is there noticably more traction on acceleration or do you only notice the difference in cornering?

BTW, the PSS suspension kit seems pretty cool, but then I can't really compare it because I haven't really driven the car with the original suspension. The car only just gets up onto my driveway with only about 5mm clearance!!!!!!

Ben

The only thing I would check, particularly on a car with lowered suspension, is what suspension travel you get. The front wheels, as per the photos, actually slightly stick out.. which may be a problem on clearance when lowering if the suspension travel and bump stops allow it. The tyres I have on these rims are 205-45-16 Eagle F1's. The rears depite their width can take more.
The wheels I have are TSW Stealth refinished in matt black (hides brake dust http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif ) and are ET35 rims in 7.5" x 16" size.

I measured the track width today, and the rear track is approx 35mm narrower than the front. +20mm spacers per side will be fitted shortly, to get the car square at least.

i would'nt dash out for 7.5 rims without checking the front clearance. Rear is fine.
check the picture to see how they fronts look.

7x16 would easily fit with lowered suspension no problem. Add a pair of +20mm spacers on the rear wheels and it should look and handle much better.
I will persevere with the 7.5x16's as I already have them and don't want to buy any more rims. They are fat though and I like them being black against the bright yellow bodywork.

Driving it around with the 7.5's on was fine and felt the more stable car, despite the std suspension. Bigger footprint certinly seems to help make it feel more stable. No wheel/tyre to arch contact no matte rhow hard I cornered over our crappy Glos roads. Time will tell when its sats lower on the PSS kit in a week or so. Fingers crossed all's well.

regards
bill

Let us know if the wheels are still OK after you get your new suspension.

Ben....
Can you let me know what sort of front suspension travel you get deflection wise please. eg. If you jump on the bonnet slam panel how many mm's does the suspension move by. This info will help me decide a ride height on my 7.5" rims.
Cheers.

enjoy yours. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif
