Took my Leon in for its 20k service on Friday (top service btw) and was given a new Toledo 140PD as a courtesy car.

On first impressions it looks like quite a plain unintersting car (yes, I do think the boot is horrible). However as soon as i sat inside it I became more and more interested.
I have to admit that the driving position felt as good if not better than the Leon. The seats certainly gripped you better.
I drove off and was amazed at the punch the car had through the gears, it was really very fast, so i guess the PD150 or whatever it is must be even quicker still. I did get the impression that the overall car felt big, with plenty of room in the rear and boot.
Dashboard layout was'nt to my liking, I thought the round dials were hidden a little by the depth of there recess. As for the climate control, it was nice to see that you could set the passenger side and drivers side temperature independant of each other. Not much to say about the stereo cos it just worked. The whole dashboard design did'nt really catch my eye and reminded me of the new Vectra layout (flat and and plasticy, rather boring)

So to sum up and these are only my opinions:

Pro's:
Driving position and feel were superb.
Engine was exceptional, very responsive (and it had only done 700 miles)
Gearbox felt very good
Quiet and gave me a feel good factor
The way they have hidden the front wipers :worship:

Con's:
Bit boring in design
That boot is just horrible!!
Dashboard is uninteresting and a little difficult to see

This car will appeal to people who dont want the size of a people carrier, but want more room than an estate car.

Thanks for the useful pics mate. Although not a colour I would normally choose and I still don't like it the rear, that rump actually looks better in silver than most other colours. I still prefer the dash of my 99 V5 - although I don't seem to like a lot of modern dashboards, they often look cheap and I think they will date with age. The seats and head rests don't look bad and I guess the boot is practical.
