I was wonering if anyones heard of this problem before if it's a problem. Just been out in the car and when i was pressing down on the brake pedal i started to hear a pulsating noise and i could feel the pulsing against the brake pedal. I could also hear the noise but a lot fainter when car was stopped and no brakes were on. The symptoms dont sem to occur when i am braking hard. Could it be a ABS problem? The car's only 3 months old so there shouldn't be any problems yet i hope.

Thanx

Mark

I've had a similar experience with my Cordie SX - Sometimes there is a vibration under braking - my suspension setting is rock hard at the moment so the vibration can be quite weird. I can't remember if I was cornering and braking - it may be some ABS / Traction control combination licking in. I've had no problems otherwise, but it does feel weird. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/rolleyes.gif

When you feel the "pulse" effect on the brake pedal...that is when the ABS is working!!!!!! (late hard braking into a bend were we??)

ABS works by not fully clamping the disc...but clamping and releasing the caliper against the discs at a rate of 16 times a second!!!! Thats to prevent the wheels from locking up.

If you did the ABS test at a SEAT track day....you kow exactly what i mean!!!

Otherwise...don't worry about it!!!

Oh, i would check your brake fluid too....too much hard braking in the early months of ownership can cook the the stuff easy!! I changed mine after 3 months!!!

No no hard breaking at all just going down to shops and was never above 30. The hardest i braked was about 1/4 of an inch move ment on the break pedal. The problem seems to have gone now so your guess is as good as mine. Guess i should chenge the fluid cos been breaking hard but never used the ABS in anger just a couple of time at low speed to see if it worked.

Cheers for the advice.

Ive not had the pulsing problem, but my brakes make all sorts of strange sounds http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif They either squeel when braking whilst moving forward or make a really low pitched groan when braking whilst reversing ( sounds like a drum brake with no lining left on the shoes ) not sure whats causing it ???

feels like the abs is cutting in even though you arnt going fast enuff for the car to even skid.. I took mine back to the dealer and they couldnt find any problewms , i think it may be brake dust covering the sensor possibly cause it hasnt happened since changing to ebc greenstuff pads and drilled and grooved discs!!, maybe worth a try, only cost me 100 all in from shop over here!!

Mark,
I have had that problem, got to the stage where i couldnt depress the pedal. The abs light kept coming on, speed sensor fault-replaced many times. in the end when i coundlnt stop and nearly went up someones arse the garage put a new abs brain in for me- hey presto no more problems. i have a cupra 2.0 8v T99. good luck

I haven't had the ABS stuttering problem with my brakes, however I have a really annoying howling and squeaking set of brakes when at low speeds..!!

When in traffic and only using light braking the brakes squeak (high pitched) as I start to press the brake and then a little further and they howl.. it is really annoying and VERY embarrasing when in traffic as my car is only a few months old.

I told them in the dealer and they looked at the brakes (probably just did a brake test or looked at them physically?) and they said there was nothing wrong with them... I agree there is nothing wrong in terms of stopping ability as they seem fine, but I can't put up with the noise. Will SEAT reaplce the pads and put better (thicker, harder compound) pads on under warranty? or does anyone know what to do to solve the problem? I am fed up of the noise and have started to leave braking late so I can brake harder and avoid the noise and embarrasment when in traffic.. thing is my nose is hurtin from hitting the dash board everytime I go to and from work..!! lol http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

What does anyone think..??

Cheer.

go greenstuff or pagid pads and drilled and groove discs, is way better than standard and doesnt go throught the pads any quicker than standard, so i think anyway, correct me if im wrong!!!
Also, i got EBC greenstuff pads and also the EBC Turbo spotties discs, work great when hard braking is needed

well got my car back today and no problems so far been out playing in the rain and ABS etc is working ok and no sign of the fault that i had. The part that was changed was the ABS pump. The one thing i have noticed is the car feels a lot quicker but thats probably cos i've been thrashing the tits off a 1.4.
