19995 plus kit is expensive though.
Corrado looked nice, couldn't really see it properly for the bloody great people carrier looking thing though...
Is anything other than red illegal in NI then?

I'm not too keen on that Altea. It looks a litte 'max power' from the rear :(
Your Leon looks nice and clean though :)
Hmm those red seats are nice... sort of like those work gloves you get with the black spots on them but in a different colour. What's with the bars in the centre console? Look like they should be in a 4x4. Just spotted the '1 tailpipe per cylinder' exhaust too. Chavved from the dealer...
The Corrado is very, very nice though.

the seats feel exactly like those gloves fen, the sides are very supportive, at least as much as the cupra's, the overall dash looks a bit bloated and front corner vision is impaired by the mini front quarter window, i honestly dont understand why they are there!
garth, the leon was washed in a garage manual jet wash for 1.90 and after id paid for it i realised the brush wash wasnt included so had to coover the car in suds and use the brush anyway!
came out well i have to say though i always wash it by hand normally (been very busy this week and never got a chance)
Not bad but agreed about the back, twin pipes would look nicer rather than four IMO. If I had to get an MPV an altea it would be............. almost musical that last sentance.

that'll be the mr trainor, the dealer manager type bloke that got it and has had it done up.
sitting in the driver seat, its a bit disconcerting as ive never driven autos that much and it all feels wrong, the accelerator pedal is true yank 18 wheeler fashion.
The altea doesn't look to bad except for
the exhuats r us
and not so keen on the wheels also
That altea is PHAT. Agree single exhausts would be better - like the bodykit though.
And the seats on the Sport Altea are great - much better than even the recaros on the LCR. I just hope they carry over to the new Leon.
(still sticking with my car for now though) :)
Scott
Good choice Scott. I haven't been keeping up well lately but i noticed the for sale thread and sig link were gone.
I don't doubt the seats work well (well, based on my Ibiza experience I guess I maybe did doubt it) but they look horrible in that colour.
I almost agree with you overall though Scott: you said "that altea is PHAT". I say "that altea is PHART" well, pump actually....
Where are the paddles on the steering wheel for the DSG box?
Where are the paddles on the steering wheel for the DSG box?
There aren't any, you move the gear stick over to the left and press up and down to change gear.
:-o But thats the whole point of DSG! Very disappointing, is it an option?
:-o But thats the whole point of DSG! Very disappointing, is it an option?
Yeah - leave it in D :D
It may as well be a regular auto then, the only reason i liked the A3 DSG i drove was the ability to change when you feel like without taking your hands off the wheel
Leave it in D, may as well be a regular auto,
Reach down every time to change, may as well be manual???
Yeha - so i understand it - it's a less jerky change than 'normal'
but you're right - most other auto's have the back to front sequential too.
Yeah it is a smooth change but without the paddles hardly justifies the large wedge of cash
Only you don't change gear as quick as that in a manual!!

duo take one out for yourself and see how it goes, you might be surprised.
Paddles
It's only Jeremy Clarkson et al who likes to do the piece to camera and say "now lets do a bit of real driving", well I did a bit of real driving with mine in (D) on Sat night and left one of those large Honda CSV's or whatever they are called that was buzzing my bumper at 90 MPH, as I moved up to 100 MPH leaving them behind....
You can be fairly certain that if you did have the paddles you'd either use them all the time, but if you didn't, your gear changing would be useless. Why have a six speed automatic with a 0.2 second gear changing speed, if you don't use it and want to go around over revving and bouncing up and down in the gears.... err not very sensible I think. Best to stick to a six speed manual where you can waggle the gears about to your hearts content and lets us Altea DSG drivers zoom past in automatic which out runs the manual in 0-62 with an ace gear changer no doubt.
We also have the beuty of launch control where you put the traction control off, hold the breakdown, take the engine up to full revs and let the break off allowing the Altea to errr fly. The pure F1 start. No I've not done this, but that's the effect so I understand.

I have, it was an A3 2.0Tdi DSG. Yes it went well but lets not kid ourselves into thinking its a fast car.
Don't get me wrong here, I loved the DSG box and very nearly bought one. My next car will probably be DSG, I just thought the paddles were the best bit and considering they are only a switch and some wires, enabling a function that the gearbox already does, its a bit cheap to leave them off the Altea

That must be the proper Altea mat in the piccie, I didn't do a bad job with my scissors and Halford mat by the look of it.

Interesting to see that the DSG Altea has caused a stir! I have been driving it now for 2000 miles and really enjoy it! The "D" mode is refined and great for driving about town - switch into "D-S" for overtakes or quick acceleration and for the enoyment on the country roads flick it into "Tiptronic". You are right, it could do with paddle shift, but I guess the reason for not using it is to keep the cost down. We might see it in the new Leon.
Regarding the seats - the only seats that I think are as good as the Altea Sport are the seats in the Golf R32! They are great, even if you are "chunky"! Believe me, I know!
I agree that the exhausts are a little bit overkill, but the reason we went for them is that they are all part of the JE Design kit. A big plus point is that whilst they are all part of the backbox and therefore all work - they are quiet. There is no big rumble eminating from the back of the car!
Prior to the Altea, I was driving a Cupra R 225, and although they are 2 completely different cars, for everyday driving (I do quite big miles), the Altea is a nicer car to drive - I can still attain 50mpg, but with the small modification that has been done, it is still a FANTASTIC car to drive - plenty of "Go", but a less harsh ride than the Cupra.
If anyone is interested in ordering one of the bodykits, they are available from Superspeed in Edinburgh - just ask for Charlie and tell him I put you in touch.
Thanks for all the feedback........
