Thanks Nick - I'm afraid it's not to everyone's taste here but there's nothing like a bit of variety. Yes it's all Carcept.

thats good my dealer says the carcept kit is seat approved and if fitted by them covered under the seat warranty good huh! also i like the rear boot spoiler was that hard to fit and does if effect the rear viewing at all?
ps. how much was the painting trying to find somewhere for some jobs on mine?

Nick, mine was fitted by the dealer when the car was new so I can't answer the question I'm afraid. I recently had the front spoiler repaired, remounted and resprayed for £130.00 (not by the dealer)

No officer, the rear spoiler does not affect my rear view in any way. (But I could do with a rear view mirror two inches above the existing one - AND one two inches below. )

I agree Danny - but the overall diameter would be the same  I'd still have the same space between the top of the tyres and my arches............

Not really as that depends on the wheel size and tyre profile, ie if you have a 15" wheel with a 55mm tyre on it the overall height of the wheel would be 500mm, but a 18" wheel with a 45mm tyre on it would be 540mm. etc etc.

If you know what i mean!!!

Yes - I know what you mean, but changing the overall height by 40mm would put the speedo out quite significantly.

dannyk

true but no too much, i would say to lower it but the i think you might loose the front and rear bumpers!!!

Mine bellies out when going up my drive if i have passangers and thats with out the lower valances!!

Thanks Danny! I'm gradually coming round to accepting it would be ok to have my speedo under-reading by 5% or 6%. I think I could live with that.

I would be happy if the car was say half an inch higher but I wouldn't want to raise its centre of gravity more than 3/4". I therefore need to look into what tyre sizes are available that would fit in with this oversizing. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has gone down this route.

Here's a pic without wheels.... :D

Hi Goosey - The Sport Rader wheels were a SEAT supplied option and were fitted at new by the dealer (as was the bodykit). Would you be interested in 4?

please put some bigger rims on :)

Other then that I love the kit, but seriously, atleast some 18"s and an uprated and lowered suspension kit.

It would finish it off and make it look spot on!

They're only 16" and I'd like to fit 17" or 18" as you would yourself so I'm not likely to be in the market fo 4 I'm afraid. One I could do but that will be as much use to you as a chocolate fireguard I suspect.

Thanks for info on origin though.

So then I copied in the R07 Audi Style Wheels (were my 1st choice)

Now admittedly they don't look as realistic as my own - but I got a :thumbd: - the style of the blown-up originals being preferred.

I didn't go for 19s because with the high mileage I do - I couldn't go for a lower profile than 40%. The car needs lowering but I want to put a different front on it first.

It's transformed from the car I bought 9 months ago - and thanks to you bunch of b*st*rds,, I'm £1000s of £££££ out of pocket! :D

But it's been hugely entertaining being a part of this forum. Most members think my car is well OTT, but I've been tolerated - and I've made some good friends in the process.

Now before m0rk reduces my post count to 99, does anyone know where I can get a whooshy dump valve?

22/10/05 SCN RR day at Awesome GTI. I'd fitted an N75J valve the night before which caused the car to run in limp mode on the rollers. A real disappointment for me - but you learn.

Great to meet people and see some fantastic machinery.

I've consulted a translation tool over this strange word that you use....

Do you mean Braw as in ( chiefly Scottish) : "well dressed "

I use it to describe something marvellous.

braw (adj)(scots)

Having pleasant desirable qualities: good, nice.

Although this came up as well:

The adjective braw has one meaning:

Meaning #1: brightly colored and showy
Synonyms: brave, gay

So it's official. It IS gay......

Cheers Rick.
I got it trial fitted mid Jan and while it looked good on the car, I was appalled at how little there was in the way of mounting points. The only solid places that the bumper could be fixed to the car were at the top rearmost points of the bumper (where the OEM bumpers clip on). NOWHERE else!!!!! They were assuming you could use the arch liners as solid fixings!!!!!!!

I could see it looking the part, but not staying on for very long. The only way I could have sorted it would be to have moulded on strengthening and plates to the reverse of the bumper - unfortunately I just didn't have the time. I rejected it and after a while, managed to get my money back.

I wouldn't be prepared to buy another without being able to see the whole thing properly - and in the flesh if possible.

Very disappointed - I was going to get a Cupra R bumper instead -but I don't really want another R lookalike. At the moment, I'm tempted to get a new lower front and restore the car to Carcept original (like it was when first registered) - perhaps blended in to the bodywork properly (and rear) with black lower mesh this time............

Sorry I didn't come up with the goods....:( At present I'm spending my cosmetic fund on MAFs. :wtf:

I'm getting the urge to put a later cupra (or R) bumper on. My exhaust tips are a little wider apart than those so I'd have to do some modding. The thing I'm curious about is at what height my tips sit compared with a cupra rear.....

ROFLMFAO.... thank you Rob. I think I'm aware quite a few people here now know that my car and I are very different entities. ;)

As time goes on peoples' reaction to the car amuses me more and more, on and off the road. I mentioned extremes of the spectrum a moment ago. Cheers Neil. The rear bumper will need modding to suit the dual exhaust. We thought the black panel in between would look odd and fussy, so it'll most likely be a facelift LC rear bumper. Side skirts, yes LCR I think.

Hi,

Me again just looking through your list of mods and next to the d.v. you have put 'reversed' what does this do?

DPJ
23-01-2008, 15:04
Installed normally, A forge Recirc valve has the boost pressure coming in against the side of the piston, and venting downwards once the piston lifts.

Installed 'reversed', the boost pressure is against the base of the piston ( and vents out to the side when the piston lifts). Personally, I think this is more efficient, though it can sound odd on some cars.

I would say the difference in response is marginal, the vac source makes a difference too. Reversed, the valve can sound like a 'chirp'.

Fairly easy, Rob. You need a blanking plate to get rid of the SAI, silicon vac line, clips, resistors, coolant. I used this vortex guide. (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3111538)

Depending on how your oil catch is set up, the oil breather off the crank case is a doddle on the Leon, far easier than the guide.

No, I like aircon!

The catch hoses were what I had available Phil, I know I should be using oil resistant, I'll get it changed when I've finalised the layout. The catch tank is easy to empty at the front, I just disconnect the sight hose at the top and point it down to drain it into a little bottle. The other hose on the catchtank goes to the road. I've now got dedicated vac sources on the manifold for DV, Gauge and FPR. :)

No, the line that's coming off the fpr is telling the Greddy what the boost pressure is. The line that's off the Charge pipe (turbo to intercooler) is taking boost pressure for the controller to use opening the wastegate. There shouldn't be any line off the TIP. Without a restrictor in the boost gauge line, the gauge responds instantly to changes in boost pressure, flicking up/down very quickly. With the restrictor fitted, the needle moves more smoothly and drops more slowly. Does that make sense, Vidar?

A disc of metal or plastic a little larger in diameter than your silicon hose with a hole drilled through the middle. the hole will be about 0.5-1.0 mm in diameter.

The up-market ones might be fitted into a leg of a T-piece.

Best fitted as close as possible to the gauge, I think

Do you get any noise in your gauge?

This is the only "thing" in my vacuum line. Except for a plain copper T split.

Looks like a non-return valve to me. Nordic jiggery-pokery. :D
