After a week or so wait my exhaust trim has turned up. :)

The only thing I have to do now is fit it. Looking at the incredibly helpful fitting instructions (note the sarcasm in that last bit) I have to cut about 130mm off both the tail pipes

Cutting pipe isnt an issue its just that the pipe is connected to my 3 month old car
:(

Very nice weld on those pipes... my father was a welder.

I have decided that I'm not fitting anything extra on the outside of the car whatever but I am going to have an MD changer - hopefully installed. Other than that I'm going to keep it a bog standard Altea DSG Sports TDI. I think it looks sexy enough myself :bounce: - that would be the sport suspension not sex ;)

I'm going the full-on Bling look on Monday with the front and rear trim, Zorst trim and the wing mirror covers being fitted.

Will order the door sills next month too, just gave car the Meguiars 33-step treatment. It says 3-step but by doing each panel in sequence it was quite a few hours before I finished.

Good results though.

Trim fitted today - would have taken some pics except that it was dark when I finished.
Cutting the first pipe was time consuming trying to make sure that I didnt damage any trim or the other pipe (as they have to be cut to different lengths). The second pipe took about five minutes once I had checked the measurements. The existing pipes are stainless steel so they take a bit of effort to cut. I didnt cut the pipes back quite as far as the instructions indicated so the words stamped on can be seen.

They look good

How much did they cost.... they look great.. though if you have time for a picture would be nice to see them fitted :D

My zorst is now a nice shade of brown due to the shed load of salt on the roads :thumbd:

The exhaust was £65 including VAT and I fitted it myself. The dealer quoted me £42 to fit it.
As I found out when trying to saw my exhaust off the Altea exhaust is Stainless Steel so it shouldn't rust it is probably just dirt - my one certainly wasn't rusty, extrememly grubby yes. And the roads I drive down to work get a lot of salting - I can tell this by the crystalised lumps I get on the back after just a week. With regular application of metal polish it should shine up nicely. However this trim looks great I will take a picture or two of it at the weekend when I can see it in daylight once again

For anyone thinking of the door sill kick plates think long and hard - got them fitted free when I bought mine (got the SEAT Sport ones!) and they really don't look like they are worth the asking price...

:) I'm leaving mine alone with all these bolt ons..... still if our boyz in Halford manage to fit the MD changer at the weekend I'll have that pretending it's a CD changer. They had the headend out a month ago to have a look at.... they move really slow.

They look good, are they clamped on after cutting the pipes or did you weld them on?

They clamp on - 2 grub screws on each pipe.

I succumbed to the exhaust pipe trim... [that's after what I said on the thread] did you have to jack it up Nimay ?. The garage said I should but I'm deferring the job to my brother.

No I didn't jack it up. I just lead on my back on the floor in the garage. Must admit it would be much easier with the car up on some ramps as you can work standing up and get some pressure down on the saw. Maybe I am just over-cautious but I am not sure about doing the sawing with the car balanced on a jack.

Thanks, I think the same myself about jacks.... I'll let my dearest brother make up his mind although I have him primed for it. Get the job done in about eight day’s time when I'm next up there. Yeah decided you need a bit of a twinkle on the back of the car.

My dealer only charged me the price of the part (£65) and fitted it during a service!
Looks great and everyone comments on it, but its a bugger to clean as the diesel soot builds up quickly.
I've started soaking it with WD40 and leaving a thin film on on, anyone any good tips?

Just buy an aerosol can of Brake Cleaner and it will dissolve it a treat. You can use it on many other cleaning jobs since it is harmless to paint and plastics/rubber. Great for removing tar from the sills.

Cheers, Peter. 5 minutes with some wheel cleaner and their like new!
Didn't realise you could use that stuff on Chrome and even plastic.
Off to clean my hands, thanks

Nice picture... well I think mine is trying to charge me £65 + VAT --- I'll question that when I pick them up.
