There has been much discussion of the price of the Cupra R gauges. I eventually took the plunge and ordered a set using the part number supplied by Flapper (thanks Flapper!).

6K0-000-132-N-B41 (this is for the black version, apparently there's a grey version too?)

Cost was £215.57 (inc VAT)

When I went to my local dealer to collect them, I was initially concerned when the girl came out with a large box, I was only expecting something a foot square. Turns out, the part number includes:

Entire centre replacement console (i.e. plastic moulding from handbrake cover up to the cubby-hole under the air-con controls), with both VDO gauges and trim panel pre-assembled with wiring loom terminated with 5-pin O/E connector.

5 x approx 12" (30cm) lengths of 2.5mm section wire terminated with connector lugs.

5 x (in-line type) wire crimps

1 x 5 pin plastic connector (opposite to that supplied on instruments).

1 x VDO Oil temp sender with 150 degs C range.

1 x Installation instructions for Ibiza model year '96.
(Point to note for SEAT: The instructions are translated from Spanish but technical documents require a technical translation, not a literal translation in order to read correctly.
e.g. 'Rotate the screw towards the sun' = Turn the screw clockwise. This case isn't so bad but I guess the non-Spanish techs must laugh/scratch their heads at some of the other documents?).

I've installed the console and when I've completed the installation of the wiring, I'll post more details and some pictures.

Which dealer did you get them from?

does the background match the ibiza dials(cupra)?

You say the instructions were for a 96> ibiza? do you mean 99> or is it for the older shape ibiza?

Would be interested in the pictures.

GREY version is for non sport or cupra models as the sports spec cars are black trim instead

Dealer - Focus in Camberley (In stock @ Milton Keynes).

See pictures for background.

No the instructions are for the older model Ibiza and the fuse box doesn't look the same from what I can see. I've hooked them up temporarily for the pix until Flapper gets back to me.

Here is the daytime picture. The flare on the Voltage dial is from the flash - no photographer, me! :)

It's the same version for all models AFAIK.

Very easy to fit the console, the sender isn't difficult just a pain.
There's a spare port on the LHS (drivers) side of the oil filter head. You can't see it without removing the cable guide bracket in front of it. You need a 5mm Allen key to undo the plug and then you just screw the sender in.

I hooked it into the centre console loom, easy for me but I'm used to messing with VW electrics.

Professionally done? - Yes, by me! Cost? - Hands scratched to f*ck! If you're mechanically minded, it's an easy job - if you have to ask how, let the dealership do it!

Oil temperature is normally 92 degs C.

After a short blast (up to 6500RPM in several gears, uphill) it rose to 95 degs C.

Will note track day temps on May 18th.

Would appear that the 1.8 20VT doesn't suffer from high oil temps as badly as my old VR6 - will see for definite on the track.
