View Full Version : Forge SEAT Leon FMIC Data
Been out tonight in Jonah's FMIC'd SEAT Leon Cupra
Datalogged & graphed for your perusal
Inlet Temps (http://www.seatcupra.net/m0rk/tuning/forge/Inlet%20Temperature.pdf) - how cold?
Butt Dyno (http://www.seatcupra.net/m0rk/tuning/forge/Power%20EMCS.pdf) - APR, so meant to be about 192bhp - see how it pulls almost to the limiter
EMCS - off (standard) (http://www.seatcupra.net/m0rk/tuning/forge/Standard%20Power.pdf)
All I could say as we were accelerating was 'why isn't the temp going up!'
Yeah and "for god's sake don't lift off on this bend!!!"
Thanks for your help with testing mate.
For all those that catch this thread further proof that a forge FMIC is a bloomin' good bit of kit that will help especially for those who are running high boost.

what gear did you use for the log?
What about those who have headlight washers or cupra R front bumpers?
Is it possible to fit the forge fmic onto them?
Or is there an alternative fmic?
Cheers
Robin

As you will see from my car I have the R front bumper. You will have to make a small modification behind the offside front grill where the foglight sits to make room for the lower intercooler pipe. I have tidied it up since the pic but you get the general idea. The bumper washers should not make any difference.

There are other FMIC's but none perform as well as the Forge item.
Just a point Jonah - I spoke to someone the other day with a TT and a FMIC - he had to grind the shoulder off the towing eye so that it still fit.
Worth checking if you haven't already.

We considered whether the towing eye housing would interfere with the lower intercooler pipe in anyway. Fortunately it only rests on the pipe and there is no friction caused between them - at least so far anyway. I would be surprised if the housing caused any damage unless the housing itself was damaged or had a rough surface which mine is not.
Like to say however definately worth noting though!

what sort of power increase did you gain from changing the intercooler alone?

An intercooler even a brilliant one like the Forge FMIC will not give you any extra power. What it does is allow your inlet temps to be colder for longer thus allowing the car to run more boost for longer. An FMIC is an "enabler" not a power mod.
With a downpipe and hi-flow cat and with the FMIC I got about at 12 bhp increase over the std 180hp. I did not check what hp mine was as boggo so who knows it could have even been a little more!
If you are going the run more boost to get more power then you need this product. It really does make one helluva difference.
Jonah, (Your car looks great) I'm really sold on this except for one nagging doubt. Can you tell me how 'modified' the replacement crash bumper is?
I'm just concerned about the ease of convincing insurers that it wouldn't affect the car's crashability. (If you know what I mean!)
it's got a small section removed - and 2 tabs welded on to fix the IC on
the backing plate they remove (which has the strength) is re-welded back on restoring as much strength as possible.

Forge supply you with a new crash bumper. Which is exactly the same except for the addition of 2 brackets to allow the FMIC to bolt to it. It will not dimish the safety aspect of the car.

Cheers Jonah - really appreciated. <Mind at rest mode on>
