View Full Version : Girling 280mm front caliper Brake slider pins
for the Lucas/girling type calipers
the bit the caliper slides along - in need if 3
new they only come with a caliper frame so looking for someone with some old/crap calipers
desperate if any one can find me 3 ??????
off to scrappy's saturday to steal some but be good if anyone has some
FORD part number - F6141154 (pack of 2)
and yes i did snap em off - but in my defense they were well corroded and stuck
for future reference :):):)
problem solved - sat at work pondering spending £80 a side on caliper frames as VAG only sell the slider pins with the frame :censored:
remembered i'd seen the LUCAS type caliper elsewhere - quick sarnie/ciggie and a drink and VOILA
Ford Granada H reg rear calipers -as fitted on my grasstracker - quick call to a mate at FORD dealers to find that they do them in kits (2 pins only) for about £8 each - ask for a delivery to verify and strike me down with a feather  SORTED
i'll post teh part number up as soon i sort me invoice out
Future reference for 256/280mm fronts and rear style LUCAS calipers
WHEN the sliders jam and shear off DONT buy new frames - pop to ya local FORD dealer and order - F******
part number adding later
nearly forgot
FORD part number - F6141154 (pack of 2) £8.00 + vat roughly
and worth every penny
off to check the rears don't snap now - lol

just a recap again, are these the slider pins you need to replace anyway?
just a recap again, are these the slider pins you need to replace anyway?
just seen this - sorry
not 'have' to as such if originals are clean greased and smooth sliding ok but as they are common for siezing up anyway and the VAG ones only come with the complete frame assy it's a cheaper easier way to replace em
right ive got to order these, might help with the poor handbrake ive got at the moment
crezz , as far as im aware , these wont fit the rears , they are too long .

Don't know if you've got sorted yet. The sliders for the girling calipers that go with the 256mm discs are exact same part number as the 2.0 ltr 16 valve cordoba 280mm ones. And from what I remember, as I don't have the car anymore to compare, the Mk2 Skoda felicia I used to have had sliders that looked very similiar. .

bit confused, mot was yesterday and my brakes were 24% unbalanced (limit is 25%!) quick look and one of the slider pins was seized.
Do the ford ones you talk about fit all standard front brakes? Or only certain ones I don't know what LUCAS type means..... thanks!
They should fit yours Sin. As you have 256mm brakes. I'd try cleaning them up and greasing first though if they don't snap.
Yeah I managed to get the seized one out with a bit of spray lubricant and a hammer, but the problem is that the rubber protector around it has cracked which is how it managed to seize because water and muck has got in there. I did put grease around it and put it back in but still i would like to get a replacement because the metal has got Pitting corrosion so it will probably seize up again soon.
Cheers for the quick reply!
GSF used to do a slider kit that people used to think was the pins whereas in fact it was just the gaiter (u need) and some grease
when i get back in i'll dig out the numbers
Yeah that would be useful if not i'll have to see how much ford are wanting for them.
Do the ones from ford come with the rubber gaiters?
didn't when I last bought some but that was 5 years ago :)

Anyone know if you can still get these?? As I called my local Ford dealer an he said he couldn't' find a match for the part number??
It seems the original part number may be obsolete but Sierra is worth a try to match up and recently found the Ssangyong Musso runs a similar style slider too
If anyone has an original set lying about Front/Rear i would be interested to know the exact sizes as the rears are shorter but for that i need to look for a lot of late models as the girling rears were used on literally tonnes of non VAG Cars
10 mins brain storming among the many models i have seen with the right make/style and i've found 1 possible alternative
Peugeot 405 Rear
Citroen ZX ?

Can't confirm as yet as to exact dimensions length/diameter etc but will do my best to find the alternative for both front and rear and will update as found
If anyone has access to measure Peugeot part number 443911 it would be appreciated
thanks
Sierra Kit looks worth a check as suspected - Link (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Sierra-Brake-caliper-Slider-bolts-BRH11214-Kit-/310299095079?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item483f447027#ht_6481wt_905)
Ssangyong Musso is a very similar size/diameter to the Ford so also worth a measure as well - Link (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ssangyong-Musso-Brake-caliper-Slider-bolt-BRH11276-/270712432357?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f07b7e6e5#ht_6493wt_905)

That site is quite handy, im gunna get a couple of them service packs for my brakes, my rubber kaiters on the slide pins av split, they would fit the rear aswell i hope.
I'm holding out on buying seals till I ask a dealer. The gaiter seals should be the same front and back I think.

oooh good find and a better chance than the ones above as they will need measuring to be safe
by the way the Ford number is still current and stock available but remove the F before quoting - i will edit to suit
to add to the list above as most were rears and i believe shorter - Clio Sport fronts use similar girling 280mm size calipers so another to check out too

Literally hundreds of different cars have the exact same pins if you search BCF1301 in the website. http://www.brakepartssuperstore.org.uk/contents/en-uk/d10782.html
