Was wondering if any one else has had the same problem as I'm getting with my 8v Cupra.sometimes when you give it full throttle it doesn't pick up much and seems to go a bit then slow down and go a bit and once the rev's get over 4000 it go's ok but does'nt seem to have full power.Only seems to do it when there's less than half a tank of petrol in it and doesn't do it all the time. Some days it absolutely flies and next day slow as hell.I was running it on asda petrol for a while and thought it was maybe that so been running on mostly bp petrol for the last 6 months but still doing it.I've got a pipercross filter on it but it was doing it before that was put on aswell.Any ideas? http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/confused.gif

different shop petrol wont make any difference cause they all come out of the same bottle as so to speak, over here in belfast you can watch one of the depots filling and emptying with tesco, sainsbury esso, bp, shell, texaco lorries all queuing for the same supply hoses, spoen to a few people and they all said that the all petrol was from the same containers, makes you wonder how some charge 4-8 p more in differeent filling stations!!! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/mad.gif

Try shell optimax unleaded as it is about 99 octane i think also have u tried fuel additives? chuck a bottle of injector cleaner in half a tank to double the strength see if that helps ps. my 16v is definately smoother on shell optimax

I'm guessing here, but if your car has a lift pump in the fuel tank (like Golfs) then it might have failed leaving the main fuel pump having to prime and suck out of the tank, which it struggles with.
Usually associated with missing though on application of full throttle.

Jason, your right about the petrol,a mate of mine own's a petrol station and he say's the tanker drivers put in there own additittives after picking there load of petrol up but that's another story. Fuel filter sounds the easiest option to look at first, anyone know where it is?
The other thing is it goes a lot better in cold weather so I'm going to have to try rigging up a cold air feed to the filter, does anyone make a enclosure type thingy to keep the heat from the engine away from the filter?
